South Carolina sent out an offer on Friday to Brady Smigiel, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound 5-pro-style quarterback of Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California. The player ranked No. 3 at the position, No. 4 in the state, and No. 13 in the nation is currently committed to Florida State. Smigiel recorded 3,530 yards, 49 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He added 460 yards and 11 scores rushing.
He is quick on his feet and moves well outside of the pocket. He has exciting arm strength. Smigiel completes short, mid-range, and deep throws, putting tight, impressive spin on throws. The arc he puts on deep throws is incredible. He has good arm extension. Smigiel has prototypical size for the position.
He is a fast, physical runner who adds an additional element to his game with his rushing ability. nearly 500 yards and 11 scores rushing proved as much. Smigiel plays especially well out of the run-pass option. His dual-threat abilities could potentially fit well with the Gamecocks offensive scheme in the future. Smigiel has exciting ability and suggests the makings of an elite, Power Four quarterback in the future.
And whether or not the Seminoles can hang on to him over an impressive list of several other top, Power Four programs should be a major national headline for fans to follow as his recruitment continues.
The Gamecocks add to his impressive offer sheet which also includes big-name Power Four programs like Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Boston College, Cal, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Pitt, SMU, TCU, UCLA, UNLV, Utah, Virginia Tech, and Washington.
