Southern Cal and UCLA to Big 10

Wow, that would be interesting/cool.

Wonder if the leftovers invite a couple teams?

I seriously doubt a lot of the P12 schools would consider merging with the leftover b12 schools.

I think it would form an instant rivalry with Southern California and Ohio State and Southern California and Michigan due to previous Rose Bowl clashes. The downside to this is that Los Angeles is at least two time zones away from the closet Big 10 opponent which is bad for the fans that want to attend these games. Will be a good move for the Big 10.

Imho, the power 4 leads right into a 4/8 team tourney. But if the P12 tries to hold on, we have them and the B12 kind of being conferences made up of leftovers.

I’ve always thought a Power 4 - sixteen teams each would be ideal - very much for the four-team tourney. Though I’d be open to 8 if they were all Power 4 teams and didn’t include what’s now Group of 5 schools automatically.

On a side note, heard USCw refered to as the University of Spoiled Children today. First time I had heard that. I about fell out my chair laughing.

Having lived in California for a while, USC was known as that and also the University of Second Choice. Basically, if you weren’t smart enough to get into the UC system, your parents could just pay for you to go to Southern Cal.

It’s funny how perception changed after the Pete Carroll era brought them back to the top of the football world. All of the sudden it was a “better” school.

Sometimes you've got to do what you have to do to survive. Both conferences are in a world of hurt losing the two top names from each.

That is true. And I'm really only basing it off some stories the last time around expansion talks. I think it was Cal and another school or two who said they didn't want Baylor because it was Baptist or something.

Just going off memory from a decade or more ago.

And all for the love of money.

The move to a separate division of four super conferences with 16 -20 teams each becomes way more plausible with this development.
Agree. And I can see a combination of two of Berkeley, Stanford, or Washington being next on the B1Gs list. Maybe Arizona, ASU to the SEC.

There are all sorts of scenarios possible at this point. The one you propound deals the ACC out of any meaningfulness. Their only lifeline resides in South Bend and even that might not be enough.
