I wanted to share some information that will allow some of you to help a local Midlands school make a difference in children's lives.
Columbia High School is having their 8th Annual Healthy Capital 5K Run/Walk on March 21 from 8:30-10:30. All the money raised will be used to promote positive behavior, lifestyle choices, and academic success, including gear and/or equipment for athletes, scholarships for various academic needs, and graphing calculators for math students. The race is registered with Strictly Running, and all entrants can register prior to the day of the race or on the morning of the race in the school cafeteria. The last few years of the race have not produced enough proceeds to really make a difference, and it would be great for that not to be the case this year. Columbia High has partnered with Chick-fil-a on Bush River Rd. for a spirit night that will take place on March 12, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.from which the school will earn a percentage of all sales from those that say HEALTHY CAPS and then place their order to help promote the 5K.
The entry fee is $15 before March 5 for adults, $10 for children 10 and under
After March 5th: $20 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under.
Day of the race: $25 for everyone
It's a great day of fun, food, and fellowship. There's prizes for all age groups, and it's for a great cause. All proceeds will be used to support the students of Columbia High.
Just for those who don't know, the first Mike Davis played at Columbia High, and former DB Willie Offord is the head coach of the Columbia High Capitals. If you're in the Capital City, go and check it out!
