Defensive lineman of the game: Keir Thomas

--Says Clemson is a "really good football team" and are really explosive offensively and they do a lot of things different defensively over the course of a game to confuse an offense. Trevor Lawrence is "mature beyond his years" and the team is talented at the skill positions.
Injuries: Jaycee Horn and A.J. Turner should be fine. Horn had an ankle sprain and is expected back at practice Tuesday to start Clemson prep (the team had Sunday and Monday off). Full injury report:
--In terms of the safety spot, the top three guys will be Horn, RJ Roderick and Steven Montac. After that, Rashad Fenton is No. 4 followed by Jason Senn at five and Jonathan Gipson as the sixth option.
--Muschamp thinks Javon Kinlaw's played well this year but has been dealing with a "pretty serious" groin/hip injury that's limited what he can do. He continues to improve though, especially for a guy that's played just two years of college football.
--Clemson's offense really didn't change that much when Lawrence took over as the starting quarterback and said not really. Said the team has really good players and it's not a vast playbook of a lot of different things they do. He said they execute and put the ball in space with really good players.
"I think they do what they do and that's what makes them efficient."
--He said the defense is going to try and give Clemson some new and different looks. Said the team is limited in what they can do in that area because of how young the defense is in the secondary.
"Don't trick yourself...because the worst thing you can do is cut a guy loose for a big play."
--Muschamp is "very pleased" with the team's young offensive linemen. Hank Manos has developed himself and "dedicated himself to the weight room, which all young players—especially line of scrimmage players—have got to do."
Eric Douglas is a guy that continues to develop and the team wishes they could have played Jordan Rhodes a little more yesterday. He’s another guy that "continues to develop the right way."
--Asked if he wanted players to get into the passion and energy of a rivalry game and this is his full response:
"I don't know that you need to talk about it a lot. Our guys will feel it; our guys will understand the importance of this game. At the end of the day, when you're a South Carolina Gamecock and people find out you played football at South Carolina, probably one of the first questions they ask you is what was your record against Clemson. Our guys understand that, we've talked about that. They understand it's a big ball game. They understand what it means to this state, this university and to your lineage as a South Carolina football player. It’s a really important game."
--When asked if fans have an understanding about what it takes to build a program and the time it takes to do that, Muschamp said he's an impatient person and wants to win right away and doesn't want the fan base to be patient at all. He wants them to be demanding and "expect excellence."
He said the investment and progress has been good but it's "not where we want to be,” yet the team is excited about the future.
