Unless 30 or 40 players are affected, every team has "enough" players to field a team. 60 or so, plus walkons.
I have a bad feeling that the CFP games are going to be impacted. As infectious as Omicron is you are going to see a lot of positives in players that are asymptomatic.
If the collegians didn't have such "trivial" matters as schoolwork with which to contend and could devote many more hours to practice, the theory might be worth testing out.Lineup the Jags, as I noted elsewhere, and test out the old " a great college team still can't beat a bad NFL team" theory.
We should take that slot
Completely agree. If you have enough players non-infected, play with whom you have. Meanwhile, Wake Forest has to be elated - unless the game is called altogether. aTm was going to be a tough out for their undersized team.Unless 30 or 40 players are affected, every team has "enough" players to field a team. 60 or so, plus walkons.
JImbo Fisher stated (I'm Paraphrasing) TAMU did not have enough "scholarship players". TIFWIWCompletely agree. If you have enough players non-infected, play with whom you have.
Man I bet UGA would be pissed if Bama dropped out of their playoff game.Alabama may have ti miss the Game VS cincy. They had 5 players test positive for "A COLD"..
This is RIDICULOUS.
I noticed it. It really comes down to the contact-tracing quarantine. Even if you get everyone through that, no one has practiced and so preparation becomes impossible.JImbo Fisher stated (I'm Paraphrasing) TAMU did not have enough "scholarship players". TIFWIW
Unless the bowl is canceled somebody who didn't earn that spot is going to play. Why? We didn't earn that spot.
Not arguing with you or singling out Aggies, but I'd suspect there are 50+ scholarship players, plus dozens of "12th men" available. If nothing else, let the scrubs play as a reward for being cannon fodder in practice all season.JImbo Fisher stated (I'm Paraphrasing) TAMU did not have enough "scholarship players". TIFWIW
You do know that we played Wake in the very first Gator Bowl back in 1946.As a fan of South Carolina and Wake Forest, that would be an interesting matchup. Either way, I'm glad to see TAMU out, Wake doesn't have the defense to win against the Aggies.
And that is what the vaccine is supposed to accomplish per public health officials - reduce the efficacy of the disease. At some point we are just going to have to treat Covid as the flu or common cold, and move on with our lives. If guys aren't physically ill, let em play.
My paraphrase "I have a top recruiting class. I don't want to be embarrassed in a bowl game and lose some of them. Not much upside in beating a Wake Forest and big downside by playing and losing to them, so I will blame COVID and Omnicron."JImbo Fisher stated (I'm Paraphrasing) TAMU did not have enough "scholarship players". I do, from my youth, when I'd devour the yearly media guides from Dad's GC membership. You do know that we played Wake in the very first Gator Bowl back in 1946.
The precedent is there. Two teams are playing twice. Seems like it could be donechange the schedule and lets play 2
How do you say you're scared without saying you're scared? As a fan of South Carolina and Wake Forest, that would be an interesting matchup. Either way, I'm glad to see TAMU out, Wake doesn't have the defense to win against the Aggies.
