So Battleship Texas, what's your opinion on Texas joining the SEC? It will be very different for them and they will no longer be able to dictate to their conference. The tail will not be able to was the dog, because if they want to leave the SEC would just say bye bye. Of course the climb to any prominence in the SEC would also be much harder. Just interested to know the answers to the above from a Texas fan.
If true that the whole was done behind A&M back. They should sue. What if the SEC did us that way with clemson ? Again if true
The taters aren't stupid just hatableMaybe A&M will leave the SEC, which will open up a place for OK State.
(Or Clemson).
Except that Big XII will fall apart, creating a P4, and the NCAA won't be driving the ship. The P4 will do what they do and the NCAA can decide if it wants to be a part of it or not. This is all a show from the Aggies. This will happen. The NCAA is going to create a new football division for the P5 schools.
Until the Universities pull out of the NCAA, they are still Members. The Universities, not their athletic departments, make that decision. The Presidents of the P4 conferences may decide to create their own regulating body with their own rules, etc., but that is much farther down the road.Except that Big XII will fall apart, creating a P4, and the NCAA won't be driving the ship. The P4 will do what they do and the NCAA can decide if it wants to be a part of it or not.
I'd be upset about Clemson too, but that is not grounds for a lawsuit - unless there is something in writing. From what I've read this has been discussed since at least the spring. Are they (TAMU) claiming they didn't know?If true that the whole thing was done behind A&M back. They should sue. What if the SEC did us that way with clemson ? Again if true
Well, he's a Negative Nellie. I liked the way he started out but then he complained about it for most of the show. This will benefit USC and we don't know where this is gonna take USC's FB pgm but l like to think it's gonna be a positive step forward. Lots more $ will be flowing into USC and that only helps its pgm AND hopefully this hurts the ACC to where it becomes a minor conference which is what those ____________ deserve.
It’s not about an easy route it’s all bout the $$Clemson would be stupid to leave the ACC right now for the SEC. Right now they have a 99% chance of always making the playoffs.
Action of contractual and goverance issues doesn't raise that?Hmmm......big leap to get to lawsuit. The tweet doesn't mention that.
Clemson, FSU, etc won'tHow is this extra money going to give us any sort of advantage? All the other teams will be getting the same money.
On what grounds? There will be a vote.If true that the whole thing was done behind A&M back. They should sue. What if the SEC did us that way with clemson ? Again if true
You're right, but I meant in the SEC. I should've clarified.Clemson, FSU, etc won't
Not meant to be. You must have misunderstood my post.Well this is a damning statement about USC football.
You're right, but I meant in the SEC. I should've clarified.
Hey, Battleship, you may have already mentioned it and I didn't see it, but are you wanting this Texas/OU move to the SEC?
Has anyone reported a Big Ten meeting this weekend? I would guess they would do things a bit quieter and privately extend a bid to two schools. My head is still spinning. I don't know what to think. On the one hand, I trust our Athletic Director as he has been aces on everything he has done since getting to Texas. Before him we had some incompetent guys like y'all describe your AD. So if he wants it, he knows more than I do. It is hard to see how this NIL thing plays out and I expect that may factor in realignment more than we know. The NCAA being so incompetent, it makes sense to join up with the only football group that knows what it is doing. Also, the new playoff formula matters a lot. I bet 4 teams get in from the SEC. With the old 4 team playoff where the SEC gets one or at most two, this might not be as good a move. The devil is in the details. Will it be a four "pod" approach or still East and West? I am sure the Texas AD knows more than I do of the details.
It is still possible this is all theatre to grab a Big Ten invite. Evidently the ACC has already reached out with suggestions of an invite. But can you really call Texas an "Atlantic Coast" team? At least with the SEC, Texas was in the Confederacy and thus somewhat southern. I don't think Texas will seriously consider the ACC, though Oklahoma might if blocked from the SEC by their legislature. The Big Ten would be attractive in a lot of ways, research, etc, but would destroy our baseball team.
Clemson, FSU, etc won't
It has been very quiet at least as far as anyone knows. Makes me think Texas will soon be an SEC team, for better or for worse.Has anyone reported a Big Ten meeting this weekend? I would guess they would do things a bit quieter and privately extend a bid to two schools.
Yeah....just read an article off the Buckeyes board. Seems that Kevin Warren is standing with deer in the headlights look, while the fans and schools are waiting for him to throw around the Big Ten's immense weight. If he blows this....it will be his last hurrah as B1G commish, especially after last season's fiasco. It has been very quiet at least as far as anyone knows. Honestly, last season's Big Ten fiasco may have played a part in Texas decision to go SEC. I can't imagine Texas being in the BIg Ten and being told, with only cursory thought and minimal discussion, that the season was cancelled. We don't expect to see that kind of stupid decisions in the SEC.Yeah....just read an article off the Buckeyes board. Don't think TOSU, Michigan, MSU, Wisky or other schools expected that type of stupid decision either.Honestly, last season's Big Ten fiasco may have played a part in Texas decision to go SEC. Partner, the money is all we will have going for us. Championships in most sports will be out of reach for us. Resign yourself to that and enjoy a better-funded athletic department to lose with. That's how it will be IF we remain in the SEC. If you want to have a crack at championships in the biggest two sports, you need to get behind the idea of moving elsewhere. How is this extra money going to give us any sort of advantage? All the other teams will be getting the same money.

That's no logic at all.the logic of many here seems to be the money will make us better though.
It will make you better in comparison to schools not in the SEC.the logic of many here seems to be the money will make us better though.
