The girls gave that game away tonight.

Bueckers is the real deal. I hated to lose, but had to smile because I knew she was going to find a way to win the game for them. Dawn was not just paying lip service when she said Bueckers is a generational player, a term that is usually thrown around too much these days. Don't mean to call out any of our team members, but can't mince words either: our guards got owned last night. The silver lining is that Boston likewise is the real deal, and we truly do deserve mention as one of the top teams in the country.
Boston needed inside and outside help. Defenses are collapsing all around her.

They had the game at the end and made 2 rushed attempts on offense instead of milking time and putting up a good shot. They even had 4 shots to win the game on the last shot and missed a 15 footer and 3 put back lay ups. The last 3 by Bueckers was entirely luck. Time running out she heaves it and it hits the back side on the left side of the rim and goes straight up and then goes straight in. Our guard were wedged out at the front of the key and should have tried short jumpers instead of banging it down low. Beal should have been on Bueckers the whole game instead of a flurry of others who usually got picked out by screens. They had no fast break points which is their go to. I hope they play them again and learn a big lesson.
The three at the end of the first half was luck too, IMO.

The hopeful ones - and possibly the coaching staff - could look at this game as a glass half full, and say that CT beat our team by only 4 pts in overtime, on their home court with our team committing 20+ unforced turnovers, and one of their players needing to score 30+ pts for them to even do that.

It doesn't make the loss feel any better, but hopefully it gives the team impetus to work on improving FG conversion, teamwork with the ball, and better ball security....

None of that should have been lacking by this stage against this opponent. This game was an alarming indicator.

It vexes me too. On top of that, I believe they have the no. 1 incoming frosh this year too.

Maybe, and maybe not.

Two ranking services have us with the number one class and two have UConn number one. S fifth service has the two classes exactly even.

To compare the players, I'll use Hoopgurlz.

That is of no interest to me now. Any season that doesn't end in a national championship now is a disappointment. It vexes me that there is a player out there we have no answer for.

Being top 4 or top 8 is what should matter. We need to win out the season to stay in the chase for a number 1 seeding. Lose another game and we will drop to a second seed.

Normally, you want to be top 4 so you are seeded in your own regional. This year, a seed of 5-8 is just as good geographically speaking..

Here are today's NET computer rankings that is to guide the selection committee.

Not to me. By now, we should be above such modest aspirations. No one remembers who finishes #2 except #2.

To be Number one, you've gotta win the tournament (banners aside). If you are ranked 1-8 you have the best shot at winning the tournament.

So top 4 - at this time - doesn't bother me at all.

We lost 4 games in 2016-2017 including a loss to UConn - and yet we were number one when the tournament concluded.

If we wind up winning the national championship, that vindicates everything. Anything else is garbage for this program now.

Geno always seems to find that skinny girl with long arms and legs with a high basketball IQ that shoots the lights out a la Breanna Stewart. His girls are all lean and play lots of minutes. They play fundamental basketball. They put on a back door clinic
