I didn't name this "What We're Hearing", although I strongly considered it...;)

The race continues for four-star Gaffney (South Carolina) defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, who is down to a public final four of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

We have mentioned many times before that TID is perhaps the foremost example of a prospect on South Carolina's recruiting board in this class being fully invested in the recruiting process, as he's a visible presence on social media discussing his schools, communicates regularly with coaches from all the programs, and has teased releasing commitment dates (and even actual commitments) multiple times in the past. That's led to a lot of speculation and guesswork in the public sphere. Quite frankly, that same vibe has spilled over into his recruitment behind the scenes, where it's been difficult for even those that communicate with Ingram-Dawkins on a regular basis to get a sure-fire feel for where things stand.

It is believed that it's the three SEC programs that have had the best shot to pull "Big T" at the end of the process, whenever that may be. Each of those three schools has held confidence at one point or another, and very likely, currently as well. When that happens, there's typically a reason for it - the prospect is giving positive feedback in most cases.

Ingram-Dawkins recently spoke with our Georgia site - there is a lot here about the Dawgs but also some generalized recruiting information, if you'd like to check out that side of things.

Tennessee dismissed defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh over the weekend after just four games, meaning the Vols will have the third coach at that position since February once a new hire is made. The one before Brumbaugh, of course, was current Gamecocks assistant Tracy Rocker. Several folks we've spoken with believe this instability could hamper the Vols' chances.

Our last substantive update on Ingram-Dawkins pointed to the fact that some in his hometown were picking up a Georgia vibe. Lately there has been more South Carolina talk. None of this is surprising - there's been a lot of back and forth here and there have certainly been changes at the top along the way on TID's list.

We'll keep everyone posted with what we hear. Thanks for being a member of GamecockCentral.com!
