The other Elephant in the room

Say what you want but we aren’t “deficient” of talent. Can we compete with UGA on talent, no, but we have more talent than Miss State, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Mizz.
Are you sure about that?

Everyone knew coming into this year that our WR corps was weak. Stepp has done a masterful job turning Vann from a bust destined for the portal into a likely mid draft pick, but he still can’t get the other guys untracked.

We knew coming in we were weak at LB.

We knew coming in our DBackfield was a question mark.

Our QB has a bad foot, and we had to take the clipboard away from one of our coaches and start him at QB.

None of our QB’s, OL, LB’s, WR’s, (with the exception of Vann) or DB’s would make the second string at Miss St, Miss, Ky, or Mizzou. Only Enagbare, a couple of our RB’s, and maybe a TE or two would get any serious playing time there.

What did some of you expect this year?

You are correct about this. Bell could find his way onto the field on about any SEC team this year. McDowell would have some role as a returner and maybe 3rd down back. This year's version of Harris...ehhhh might be hard to get on the field elsewhere.

You're talking completely out of your head now. Statistics are on your side that most coaching hires never win national championships. Statistics are on your side that at least half the coaching hires never make it more than that four or five year window to prove they can be successful. So of course I can't sit here and guarantee that Beamer will be successful because statistics are not with me.

But you have no idea what's going to happen with any of those coaches let alone Beamer.

So yes your original post or, the elephant in the room you're shining a light on, so you think, is that if we don't make a decision now those coaches will be gone forever and the opportunity lost. It's a bullshit premise based on bullshit beliefs and promises that you can't prove.

Furthermore it's not going to happen. So why the hell do you keep talking about it? It's not helping the program or the situation one little bit.
Completely out of my head? CCU and Louisiana records are what they are this year. Their HCs respective resumes are what they are.
SBs program is what it is currently....we have all been given a big eyeful.
It's always funny to me that the offended resort to " you are hurting the program!!!!" Like a bunch of fans on the message board are directing the ship.
News flash - Shane Beamer is directing it, and has been since December. Definitive facts and Results will continue to mount in a positive or negative direction and it has nothing to do with message boards.

I didn't say you were hurting it, I said you're not helping it, big difference.

You think you're helping it but you're not You're just venting. But you do have the potential to hurt it if the wrong person reads what you're writing and it affects them when they make their decision about which school they want to attend.

I think its important to keep in mind where Coastal and Louisiana are concerned is that both teams are FULL of the "Super" Seniors and they had little to none transfer out. These players know the systems perfectly and run them perfectly. All these Power 5 teams we are talking about are part of the mass transfer portal business. It is hard to get players that have been a part of multiple different systems to mix with new staff and new teammates, as well as high schoolers coming in. Its alot to mix and make work well. South Carolina is in the midst of alot of change. Honestly, and I love Coastal alot having gone to school there, next year will be a big telling of the stability of the program. Yes they get McCall and 2 running backs returning and do have other talent there, but they lose ALOT of leadership, mainly on O-line and whole defense. I think louisiana is in same boat. Time will tell with all but these lower tier teams full of "Super" seniors that have systems ingrained in them, are going to cause fits for Power 5 teams for a couple more years. I think Coastal is doing all they can to keep Chadwell with raise last year, new football facility coming and possibly moving to AAC. Will see and I hope he stays and keeps the train rolling there. He is a great guy as well, i have been able to meet and talk to him and other coaches there and they are all great people so they represent Coastal well.

You're not wrong, but what's the point right now? Just seems like an exercise in futility.

Beamer is six games in and he's likely going to be at USC for a minimum of 3 years.

If you wanted to start these types of comparisons, wouldn't Year 3 be more appropriate?

At that point in time, much will be different and Caldwell/Napier very well could be off the table.

Until then, comparison remains the thief of joy.

Exactly. There are no can't misses. Charlie Strong was lighting the world on fire at Louisville and fell flat on his face at Texas.

I predict both these guys will take big jobs and struggle.

The Opie is trying to create a sense of urgency about us making another decision with a false premise.
Of course. But at least we would have had some hope with Chadwell.

everyone is laughing at us for hiring Beamer.

Beamer was a risky hire. Chadwell would have been a risky hire. Some fans just wanted the in-state risky hire.

There are more examples of guys who had great success in the lower ranks and then flopped at larger programs than there are examples of guys who had great success in the lower ranks and then went on to have great success at bigger schools.

And there aren’t a lot of examples of larger programs hiring a TE coach with no coordinator experience because it’s much riskier than what you just stated.

You’re right. There are many, many, many, many, more examples Of head coaches from smaller schools who flamed out at larger schools.

And there is a reason why there are so many more examples even if you’re intentionally being obtuse and refusing to admit that reality.
The vast majority of coaches who jumped from smaller programs to larger programs have flamed out.

As I’ve stated before....Beamer was the worst/dumbest / worst upside gamble our hiring powers could’ve made. Nobody with his resume (but without his last name) could’ve even snuck in the secretary’s office to see what the interview room wall colors are when they open and close the door in his face. Collossal failure hire and direction.

For you CCU and Chadwell haters...this may be your big chance to feel good about this "no hire". Going to App State on a weeknight in the weather up there...not many fair well. If CCU is close or wins this game.....Chadwell's agent will begin to field HC offers DURING this year for immediate work to begin once CCU's regular season is over.
App State is a good, proud football program and team. Just ask Miami and ECU. They take winning seriously, and don't expect to ever lose at home...especially after October hits. If you watched either the UM game you know ASU outplayed and definitely looked better than Miami. If you watched the ECU game, you know that the gap between these two teams was much wider than the 14 point win differential end game score showed to be. App avg'd 6.3 per carry vs. ECU in that game. We avg'd 3.1 per carry vs. ECU.

It’s like watching a year long temper tantrum….
