Agreed. No qb no matter how talented can succeed running for his life. Things need to go well, or Rattler will be back in the portal quickly.

Exactly!!! It’s an upgrade at QB for sure but he’s not a mobile QB and will definitely need a huge upgrade of the O line to be successful. Lamar Jackson would be in trouble behind this line.
This. 100x this. I've been pounding this board with the same sentiment. Won't matter who the QB is, if we can't protect him. Look no further than the inbreds in the upstate. I doubt anyone can say DJ is a bad QB but when you don't have time to throw and look through your progressions .. which he (DJ) can only halfway do anyway, they won't have a chance.
It might surprise some fans to see how much the OL “improves” when we have a competent QB.
I think we may just find out our OL issues were more due to poor QB play.
Maybe a small part. I think it has more to do with OC issues. We had QB issues last year and the same guys were able to run block. If you suggest our opponents plan was to shut down the run, it didn't work last year or doesn't explain why there was a DL in the face of our QB before he even dropped back.
Of course it was part of it. If you have a qb that can't handle the blitz, that's what you are going to get all night long.
