I would've wished him well if he had not told Gill and Harris to transfer and followed it by making demeaning comments about USC basketball.Originally posted by RoosterToo:
Come on guys. We all know that he coached here. We all know how it ended. It's ancient (or maybe not so ancient) history. Can we just admit that it didn't work out, acknowledge the mistake, and let the guy try to make a living?

Dayum!!! Is that right? The total is $4.8 million according to that calculation.Originally posted by simms2000:
I'll answer my own question...we paid him $2.4 million plus $800,000 a year for 3 years. (Bleacher Report) If you start working tomorrow, work for 30 years and earn $150,000 a year you will almost make as much as the University of South Carolina paid him in his buyout...I agree let the guy EARN a living!
Either way, that's a sh*t-ton of money.Originally posted by Mr CockStrong:

Are you sure it's $2.4 million plus $800,000/yr? Or, is it $2.4 million divided into 3 years, which would be $800,000/yr over the three year period?
What did he say demeaning about our hoops program?- I dont know.Originally posted by uscbeckham:

No need for chips on shoulders. The SEC office does not stay up at night looking for ways to screw USC.Originally posted by pepsicock:

Let me say at the very beginning, I wanted Horn gone as soon as possible and was as vocal about it as the next guy. However, after the passing of some time, I've begun to have some perspective on the Horn tenure. And first let me ask, has it ever been actually proven that Horn told Gill and Harris to transfer? I remember well when it was being posted on message boards as a rumor and then run with as fact. Also, who is to say that Gill or Harris would have even wanted to play for Martin? Gill was a freshman. He came here to play for Horn. Then top it off, Martin encouraged four of those guys' teammates to leave the following year. Whether Martin brought in more talented players or not (and it has been debatable on some that came in to replace those), the constant dribble that Horn left the cupboard bare is just not true. I mean stop and think about that for a second. Martin encouraged 4 of Horn's former players to transfer and turned around signed a 7 man class. That class has now had departures from Ringer and Shaw and it appears may have departures from it this season in Henry and Theus Jr. So out of that 7 man class that Martin brought in to fill the gaps from encouraging those transfers and the graduations, there is a good chance that only 3 will make it into a third year with the program (McKie, Notice and Thornwell). Horn didn't leave the cupboard bare, Martin keeps clearing it out. I mean for goodness sakes people on here have so often this season blamed Thornwell's troubles on not having Williams to take the pressure off of him. Well Williams was one of Horn's recruits. So we say that Horn left the cupboard bare but the excuse we use for Martin's player not producing is that he is missing Horn's player? That doesn't quite add up. Also, people keep saying we need to give Martin time to coach his players, well this is all his team (by his doing with the encouraging of the transfers). Horn only got to coach a team of only his players for just one season. Let me state that again, we didn't give Horn but 1 season to coach his players. As for results, for some perspective, Martin is 15-39 (.277 winning percentage) in the SEC regular season in his 3 years here. Horn was 13-35 (.271 winning percentage) in the SEC regular season over his final 3 awful years. About the same numbers wise, but Martin is trending up by one game a season thus far while Horn's was going down a game or two each season. However, Horn, I believe, would have only had 2 bad seasons had Archie not gotten hurt in the 5th game of Horn's second season. However, I and many others didn't want to hear the injury excuse but we've allowed it under Martin. I guess what I am trying to say is that we have judged Martin way more fairly than we did Horn. I'm not saying I want to fire Martin. And once again, I was one who DID want Horn fired. However, some perspective after 3 years has made me realize we need to stop blaming Martin's failures on Horn. Yes they had a bad seasons before Martin got here, but the cupboard wasn't completely bare until Martin chose to make it so (which we all applauded him for).Originally posted by uscbeckham:

Also, considering what Horn had going at Western Kentucky, his age, the fact that we only gave him 1 season to coach his players and the fact that he became another in the long line of head coaches here who didn't go on to another head coaching gig (the graveyard of head coaches once again); I'm sure Horn probably feels we intentionally screwed HIS career or at least probably felt that way when he left. At least it sounded like last night that he has moved on. It would be nice if we could do the same.

I am over Horn I have not hate for the guy. I just notice he is not coaching anywhere, and I will leave it at that. Maybe Lorenzo Ward will wind up on SEC Gameday with Tebow and Spears or whatever they call it. Seems like a good job.
