This fall, we'll go 3-5 in the SEC and 6-6 overall

no way, although this season's schedule is not friendly for the issues that the team will be dealing with, but that is SEC football and that's why I'm glad that we are in a real football conference.

Last year was our down year and we should have finished 10 and 3. This year should be a great year but Mitch is the key

I'm not too optimistic, but I'll be happy to eat my words at the end of the year.

I really think the offense will struggle, and the returners from last year's D don't exactly leave a warm and fuzzy feeling with me.

Exactly my line of thinking. I think it is really up to Mitch on how far we can go. I'm expecting a night and day difference on defense. The good news is that we are not trying to start a true freshman. Mitch is a red shirt sophomore starting his third year in the program. I would expect him, given his talent level, to perform as well as Dylan Thompson this year. I don't think that is asking too much. If he can do that then I don't see 9 or more wins being out of the equation. The flip side is that if Mitch turns out to be another Chris Smelley then we could easily find ourselves going 6-6. Hopefully between Mitch or Nunez we will find a good QB because we should be loaded on D in 2016.

Re: If our defense has not learned to stop the QB draw, then I do not

see 3 wins on the schedule much less 6 wins.

It looks like a long fall to me......with some of last years 48-45 losses degrading to even worst 48-28 losses.

Last year after tamu I stated that we were no better than a 7-5 or 6-6 type team and got eaten up for it. What we saw was a the results of "coasting" in the recruiting process the last 2 years. Unfortunately we you whiff in recruiting it effects multiple years and this coming year will be no exception. We run the zone read and the qb has got to be a runner. Conner Mitch is not a runner and he has no real game experience. We also have all new receivers and many new olineman. We have many unknowns on the defensive side of the ball. We also will have a tougher schedule. If that doesn't spell a 6-6 type year then I don't know what does. It's gonna take half a season for sos to see Mitch won't work in this offense then I suspect he will experiment with Orth awhile. That means the 2016 team will again be going with probably a rs freshman qb with no experience. We are in for at the very least 2 more years of mediocrity.

It could happen with our schedule being as tough as it is but I think we pull out a couple more wins than that. 4-4 in the SEC and 8-4 overall.

Captcock61 I understand why you feel that way. I guess I just have more confidence in our Head Coach than you do

Truth is, none of us know enough about our team, individual players, or our opponent's individual players to make an educated guess of how the upcoming season will go. We all speak based on our desires and/or past performance. No one is sitting still in the pursuit of a winning season.

Any prediction is fair game, and anyone who blasts another for their opinion is arrogant in their misguided belief(s). As is always the case, some will guess correctly, while others will not.

My opinion is, unless we have several freshmen (redshirt or otherwise) step up and contribute in a major way, I can see the prediction from the "other site" as being credible.

I'm gamecock through and through and have been since 1960 young ones. I'm also a realist. Too many question marks coming into this season. Foremost is qb. We also only have one bona fide top flight play maker on either side of the ball. Pharoh is great but he will garner so much extra attention it will limit him, even if Mitch can get him the ball. At the same time too many of our opponents are on the upswing to instill any pre-season overconfidence in me. Unfortunately, two of my most despised are in the upswing column: UGA and climpson. I'd also lump Tn. in there too. It could be a long season but that little oblong ball can take some funny bounces. Hope I'm wrong and we get the breaks this year.

We might surprise a cpl teams and I'm hoping tater U is one of them. Still considering our situation anything over 7 wins should get sos major accolades.

"Last year was our down year"........like your optimism, but we've had more down years than up years, so I don't necessarily think we're going to bounce back from a year that was out of the ordinary.
Our offense will sorely miss DThompson (although he was no Connor Shaw), Mike Davis. AJ Cann, Yhompson, etc. Doubt seriously we will approach last year's offensive numbers.
Defense? Who knows. Can't be any worse, but I don't see where GREAT improvement will be a definite. Do we have budding DL stars that are going to have breakout years? Doesn't sound like DWideman is pushing thr right buttons to me.
Not to mention there are 2 teams in our division that will clearly be much better. UT (who we didn't do so well against last year) is a year older and they have talent. UF should be much improved. Their coach made a major, and quick, turnaround at CSU and they have to get better....again they are pretty talented. And UGA reloads with a lot of talent.
Throw in playing at TA&M and having LSU added to the schedule, and I just don't see anything better than a 7-win season.

I agree with you Fin.

Although there are question marks at certain positions, none of us know and any guess is as good as any.
My opinion is it is possible for the QB to do just enough to put us in a position to win. Most projected starters on the o-line are out, but the backups are getting much needed reps. If the defense is a couple of notches better than last years, we should have more than enough chances to match up with nearly everyone on our schedule.

It's probably a good thing that most sports sites to pick us to finish that way. Hopefully it will gives us an edge and surprise some.

I am just as anxious for this upcoming season to start as any other.
