This team reminds me of the '96 team

It's the same guys that beat top 10 Iowa State on a neutral floor and beat the bloody heck out of Oklahoma State and Clemson. They just lost their mojo apparently. Maybe the challenge of Kentucky can get it back.

If you are talking about the 95-96 team that went to the NIT, maybe.

If you are talking about the 96-97 team that went 15-1 in the SEC, then no.

96-97 team was the best team I ever remember us having since I became a fan. I was a freshman at USC. Maybe someone should got back and look at that team as blue print for what we should look like as a team. The Three-headed Monster. 1. Melvin Watson - True point guard. Got penetration, a lot of assists not nearly as many turnovers. Could be counted on in the clutch and to salt games away. 2. BJ. McKie - Prolific scorer off the dribble or from three. 3. Larry Davis - Vetern guy, deadly 3-pt shooter, automatic from the FT line. Then you had a really good rebounder in Gallman, and Stack who was kind of soft but he was a 7 footer that made it difficult for the other team to shoot inside and he could block shots.

96 team. Not the 97 SEC champions.

Yep. '97 was a dang good team. Crying shame we choked in both the SEC tourney & NCAA tourney. '98 was pretty freakin' good too.
