The day before four-star Tennessee athlete Reggie Grimes committed to Oklahoma back in November, we reported to our subscribers how - and why - the winds had shifted towards the Sooners. We also noted in that report that there was still a chance that Grimes would opt to wait until February to sign, which would leave the door open for South Carolina.

In the days since, we have continued checking and consistently been told that Grimes was leaving the possibility of signing late on the table. The question would be whether or not Oklahoma could successfully squeeze him to sign on Wednesday.

A report surfaced on Monday evening from the Tennesseean stating that Grimes would indeed wait until February.

GamecockCentral.com spoke with Grimes and his father, Reggie Sr., on Monday night via text message. The younger Grimes said "I am" when asked if he was waiting until February to sign, and his father said the idea that they would wait until February to sign was "correct."

The Grimes camp has also told other people I've communicated with this same thing.

From what we have picked up and with the way this one has gone, my estimate is that we will be continuing to track this one up until tomorrow in terms of a potential signing just in case something changes. There is a notion behind that scenes here - a vibe - that it may not be totally settled or locked in one way or the other.

That's the very latest.
