Greetings,

Me and some friends will be making the trip to Columbia for the game in September. Any recommendations on where to stay? We're all 24-26. We'd like to be in walking distance to nightlife, and relatively close to the stadium. Not sure how your campus is set up, and if that's feasible, but I figure you all would be the best people to ask.

Thanks, we're excited for the re-match!

Try the Hampton Inn on Gervais St. It's in the Vista area where there bars and restaurants. Its also reasonably close to the stadium.

Either stay in the Vista at the Hilton, the Hampton Inn, the Hyatt Place or Springhill Suites or on Main Street at the Sheraton or the Marriott.

I would suggest the Hampton Inn or the Hilton both are right in the middle of the vista where the clubs and restaurants are

The only reason I would not want to say at the Hilton is because I feel like I would helping finance those worthless Hilton's children party life sytle. LOL

You're kidding; right? There are a lot more hotels in the Hilton chain than just Hiltons. Besides, it's not owned by Paris Hilton, anyway.

We had a lot in common with UCF in 2013. Both football teams found ways to come back from the dead and win big games under pressure in the 4th qtr. In 2014, the Gamecocks found ways to shoot themselves in the foot and lose big games under pressure in the 4th qtr. Looks like UCF took a step back as well, but they looked better than we did in 2014.

Are you sure about that because I just watched the news today about the little brattie Hilton boy that hit a flight attendant got off almost Scott free. And they were talking about the Hilton millions.

I'm sure they inherited plenty of money, but the Hilton chain is owned by a conglomerate now, not the Hilton family.

Screw all the Vista Hotels the way the quadruple the prices. I am not a cheap person, but the games they play sucks.

Thanks for all the replies! I will look into the hotels everyone mentioned. We had a big turnover at receiver, so lot's of questions there and the defense we think will continue to be typical UCF, bend don't break mentality. O'Leary has always fielded a respectable defense even at positions that lack depth and elite talent. Our QB had flashes last year, and we're looking for him to take the "Bortles step" in his 2nd year starting. He actually had a better stat line in his first year starting than Bortles did, and is basically the same size. Our signature moment last year was definitely the end of regulation Hail Marry winner at East Carolina, during a year where we did take a step back.

South Carolina fans are held in high regard around UCF. As I was leaving our stadium after our loss to you guys a group of your fans were getting into their car next to mine. They could tell I was distraught, and they had nothing but good things to say about our campus, fans, and team. One guy said "you guys should really be playing in a power conference, we had no idea UCF's program was this built up." and another said "you all won't lose another game all year." And well, we didn't.

Exited to see your neck of the woods and experience my first SEC tailgate!

Stay out of 5 points. You might get shot if you venture in there after dark.

Knight954. 5 points is where most of the college hang outs still are but it does have it's share shadiness from time to time. Vista is a big night life but so is 5 points and more college age patrons. They are about 5 miles apart give or take. If you stay in the Vista you can walk to everything there. Plenty of places there to party!

Its a long trip for me and night life left a long time ago but, when we go to games in Columbia, we take the special buses from the Colonial Life Arena. Cheap, quick, parking and no problems. Still about a half mile walk to Willy B though.

One person got shot 2 years ago. You do realize that hundreds of thousands of people frequent Five Points every year with no trouble, don't you?

I've seen numerous thugs pull out guns in five points, play the "knockout" game, and I believe more than Martha Childress has been shot in the last few years in 5 points. The Vista is where its at. There are a few nice places to go to in 5 points.....during the day.
