UConn is the better team. But we will play better on neutral court.*

Not if our team doesn't commit themselves to getting better. We are the same team that we were in November. No improvement in ball movement or shot selection. Our team needs to watch every aspect of this game over and over again.

Too much credit given to a neutral court IMO. They have by far the best shooter, the best post player, and the best guard. We are getting there but tonight was an even larger eye opener than I anticipated.

They simply outscored them. Also, they played at Stanford and UConn had some problems playing there.

I didn't say we would win. Lol

I actually think that Geno is an arrogant jackass, but his team is far better coached in the fundamental skills of basketball, regardless of the talent equation.

Still puzzling to me why Geno never took his craft to a men's league?

I'm ok with not winning this game. We will have to meet them again along the way to the NC game (if we can get there). Beating team like UCONN is hard enough, let alone have to beat them 2x. We know now what it is gonna take to beat them.

They would still beat us by double digits. UCONN can play, our girls have gotten away with street ball this year, but not against them. We are good but not UCONN good.

UConn CANNOT play any better than they did.
That was their A++ game.

We missed a lot of easy shots

We have to improve our shooting to challenge for a national title.

Carolina would lose by 20 on a neutral court too. Their fundamentals are 10x what ours are.

Agreed Judson.
He IS THE MAN...in women's basketball. This is a good thing for our younger players. Tough to take, but we are going to grow from this curb stomping.

Pretty much this. Problem is, that is about as good as we play. I said a few weeks ago, if our girls don't improve, they won't make the Final Four.

Now is the chance. They finally found the team that could expose every weakness. Now, they need to go fix it.

UConn is just the better team. I would not say a lot better, We just did not play real well tonight and everything they threw up went in. That does not happen every night. Would love to play them again this year anywhere, I think it would be a much closer game. JMO

In a word (I'll render a guess) - height. Last time we played Stanford they looked like they had 3-4 mascots on the court playing for them - Sequoah trees.

When? Even when we blow someone out, we turn the ball over and have terrible ball movement. We have won a lot of games on athleticism. It's time that we start getting better at team basketball.

When you man a low post player who is the best in the nation with a girl 5" shorter, why be surprised when everything they throw up goes in. Why not zone and take a chance on the three ball? That's better than 30+ points given up four feet from the basket.

That may be a true statement, but from here on out we need to play MUCH better EVERY game, and we don't always do that. Our shooting is streaky and we tend to come out cold sometimes. Defense tends to leave the back door open too much. I'm guessing every team from here on out will try to face guard Mitchell all they can. Hey, it worked for UConn.

Problem is that UConn moves the ball and shoots so well that it would shred a zone defense even worse. Also, a zone is terrible for box-out responsibility. They would murder us on the boards.

I'd rather take a chance with shredding my defense from 20 feet that a sure thing from 4 feet. Zones are played to protect the lane and to facilitate defensive rebounding if you have height. Unfortunately, we don't box-out in a man either.

FWIW, they shot 73% from 3pt range, but only 51% from everywhere else. Tonight, they were going to hit shots. Playing zone probably would've made it worse.

This game will make us better. To improve you have to play the best and, right now, UCONN is the best.

It would not have made a difference in the out come of the game, but there was a lot of home cooking. Their bigs got away with fouls, Cuevas called for a charge with Stewart moving all the time. Cuevas called for a foul on a clean block. U Conn's #23 throwing an elbow and pushing off and then canning a 3. These are the things that can swing a game quickly, especially when every shot they throw up goes in. If they play again, they better stick those gunners outside and body up Stewart underneath. They do not need to play half court, they should have run it out with them cause it stopped our offense cold.

The two major ones were #23 throwing the elbow before the 3 and Stewart getting the charge call. That was pretty bad.

BUT, a neutral court won't change that. UConn will have the advantage in foul calls, no matter what. You have to play above that.

UCONN came in shooting 41% from 3 point range against a very poor conference schedule. Obviously they have not been a lights out 3 point shooting team like they were tonight against frankly some pretty poor opponents. Don't believe they would come anywhere close to shooting as well as they did tonight if we get chance to play them again.

I just hope when we play them next year in Columbia we can get the same response from the zebras. UConn, tonight had a total of 7 fouls with 3 minutes to go and barely got into the one and one. Don't give me that stuff that they are so good they didn't foul. That in itself was a swing of 12 points plus the bogus calls that swung the game in the first half.
