We should only pursue him if we want to win the SEC.
He should be the first call.
I once thought he was the best coach in the game but honestly I think he either has a serious case of ADD or something going on that requires more attention than his job.
lol at the folks who want to avoid Urban bc of issues he may have but are dead set on Freeze.
There is about as much of a chance of him coming here is there is of a supermodel wanting to father your children or mine.
He will only take a high profile job. Rumors out there that Texas wants him
Yeah, Texas or SoCal is more likely for Urban. For us I'd like Fickell or Campbell, whichever one doesn't get the Michigan job.

how do you feel about Napier? I kind of like the idea of Fickell. Hate the Freeze idea...
The conversation should go something like this: “Urban, this is Ray. The job is yours if you want it. Let me know what it would take to have this conversation. Take a couple weeks to think it over and get back to me.”
I like Napier. He evidently was very high on Mississippi State's list (at least per their fan site and their insiders). Just have always liked Fickell and the way he coaches. But either I believe would be successful.
My brother was definitely never the dorky guy, but he took our dad's advice MANY years ago when he was in high school and liked a girl. Dad said, "Well ask her out. The worst she can say is no." The next day my brother came home and said in a loud tone, "Thanks Dad! At least before I could imagine she would say yes!"
I think pretty much everyone would love that(I know I would), but from my understanding he wouldn’t come back to the SEC. That being said, I would still make him turn me down, he’d be my first call.
This was said about 2 of our 3 last HC’s. Gotta ask. Doesn’t hurt at all. Nobody thought we’d get Holtz or Spurrier either.

Urban is the only name out there that makes you feel like we would see an almost instant turnaround and instant MAJOR recruiting uptick... I don’t think it is likely but if we got Holtz, Spurrier and Urban to come here WOW! Maybe we need SOS to give him a call and talk about how relaxing it is to live/ retire here and play golf all the time. That was part of the pitch that helped bring him in after all...

He won't touch us. He's hoping that the boy at Notre Dame has a stroke, unless the boy at Southern Cal gets derailed first..
He left Florida because he couldn't beat Saban. Saban is still at Bama. UM will be at Texas, SoCal or some other bigger named program. It's not even worth the high profile turn-down with a little snicker at the end of it...basically he'd throw us under the bus in turning us down.
If he’s had physical health issues where he’s been, he’d end up with one helluva case of mental illness here.
It might not be a bad deal for him. Think about it like this... Could be the only coach to win the NC at 3 different schools. That and the fact that one of those schools would be South Carolina is greatest coach of all time status.
I have no doubt that he's probably not interested. But what harm does it do to make the phone call?

As long as its behind the scene through his agent, you are probably right.
