Ugly loss, but the better team and coach definitely won. Hats off to them. Glad to see Paige Bueckers go. Wonder if she will get the CC treatment in the W. Going forward. Who stays, who goes, who comes in? I bet there are so many coaches in MF ear telling her SC is wasting her talent. Wonder if she stays. What are the rumors of incoming players. We cannot win a NC without a post presence. Who is the next big that will help us move forward?

Only Staley can answer those questions. Agree, without some strong help from the portal, next years group will be very average.
This years team didn't fit her style of coaching. They were depending on Johnson and Pao Pao to be strong 3 point threats but that didn't happen. Both of them regressed from the previous year. Most likely because other teams didn't have to collapse on a strong post player.

I am really hoping Dawn can convince Sareh Williams to come to South Carolina. She is a 6’4 scoring beast who hit the portal after the Wisconsin coach left. We really, really need this girl.
BTW, ESPN named South Carolina as the early favorite to win the 2026 national title.

I know some of you don't like Raven and yes she is not an effective shooter, but she is a good PG and rebounds well. We can benefit from her returning if that is still an option.

I was shocked to see that early favorite status.

She became an extremely scrappy player this year, her rebounding was crazy good. But why does it seem she never breaks down the defense with her dribble? I would have thought by now she would be more dynamic with the ball in her hands.

I and others have said for many years that Dawn is not the GOAT in college WBB, Geno Auriemma holds that title. A few years back when the Gcocks supposedly had equal talent with UConn, Geno would beat Dawn every time. Not until Dawn's talent significantly surpassed Geno's did she start beating him. Given equal talent Geno will beat Dawn 9/10 times. She does not adjust game plans like Geno and the preparation and "team play" that UConn exhibited Sunday far exceeded the GCocks, they were just better coached and more motivated. The passing gane of UConn was exceptional, to say the least, individual talent doesn't beat team talent.

Geno ain't running out a bunch of 2* on the court.

I didn't say he was, and I think he has more talent than Dawn this year, but the coaching methods were evident, the passing game for UConn stood out vs ours.
I believe there is some truth to what you say but UConn had 3 players on the court that are likely generational talents with a strong supporting cast. I love the calls on social media for Dawn to retire. Yes, let's make sure we suck in this sport as much as we do in about every other one. Freaking brilliant minds out there.

They werent UNDEFEATED, they were beatable, so it looked to me as if he "OUTCOACHED" Staley Sunday. Just IMO.. Tenn, USCW and Notre dame beat them..

The last time we beat UConn at their place, we wiped the floor with them. Better talent=win.

I think a fair review of the year shows many third and fourth quarter bounce backs. That would be coaching adjustments, so let’s not make generic statements.

Because they were behind at the Start so many Games, NOT PREPARED> They looked totally "Shell-Socked" against UCONN. Maybe they were up late making TIK TOK Videos?? Still, like i said Earlier, it was a Good Season for them, just seemed they were UNPREPARED for what UCON threw at them!!

So does anyone know of any players coming in that will help? HS or portal recruiting?

Raven Johnson also announced she's staying.

She's friends with Latson who is a big time shooter transfer from Florida State.

This is big.
Chloe's sister Kylee just announced that she is in the portal. Has a "do not contact. " I imagine that is a good sign for us?

I predicted a month ago she would enter the portal and go to South Carolina. She redshirted at UF so she’ll have four years of eligibility left.

Sakima Walker entered the transfer portal. That opens up a slot for another big….perhaps Kylee Kitts(?).

UConn was the more talented team this year and the more talented team usually wins.

It's easy to forget that Bueckers, Fudd and Strong were the nation's number one player in their respective class coming out of high school.

Looks like Dawn got two of the top-rated players in the portal. We most definitely needed an aggressive 6’6” center that will own the paint. We also needed the top-shooter in the nations to bring long-distance power.

There are stories out there saying we also lead for Gianna Kneepkens. She is a total shooter, 50% overall and over 45% from 3, averaging 19 a game. She can also move and make her own shots. If she comes too, it is a true embarrassment of riches. They say she really wants a shot at a national title, not that everybody doesn't but I don't think she is a prima donna.

She would be a great get. I remember she injured her knee badly the week prior to us playing them a couple years ago.

The thing I notice about Geno's teams other than the talent he gets and the preparation they have is the fact that his teams are always well disciplined and play smart. Our team can be frustrating at times. They sometimes lapse into undisciplined play, turn the ball over a lot, try to force things that aren't there, and just make some bonehead plays.

Yep. Dawn’s offensive and defensive schemes are well known to every coach now, but she can beat most teams on talent alone. She thus can win when her team has poor discipline, which they often do when certain players are on the court. But when faced with equal talent and disciplined players, she loses every advantage.

You just described Fulwiley

No, I was describing the team. Since Fulwiley played less than half of every game it was primarily other players involved although she sometimes had some of these issues as well. No one was exempt from these lapses.
