WBB going forward

Are you kidding me? Gay lifestyle was a bit of gay bashing. You could extrude race from the 2 other named coaches who are/were decidely white but I admit it is a little bit of a stretch. Those 2 model coaches were also older so maybe a check. Sexism as far as male/female, I am guilty but not as far as preference so all in all a wash. In any event, at least for a minute this board had life again. Moved you to scream in all caps!!
LOL.... Okay, Whatever you say. I am not a Dawn Staley fan, but respect her Coachiing ability, and appreciate her winning at SC, but also respect people that like her "style" and those that dont..

Sorry Dawn is done . The Louis Vuitton ,Gay lifestyle has caught up with the Mamas of Fulwiley and the like . Geno will reign supreme like Summit did. Could’ve been better if Dawn wasn’t Dawn !
Yep….Geno has landed a boatload of talent that will keep him at the top for at least five years. Dawn is just so over the top that many parents don’t want their children under her influence.

Is it any more than just the ebb and flow of the game? UCONN was on top for a long time. Then we overtook them for a period. Now they are surging again.

I do agree that Dawn has gone a little Hollywood these last few years and probably needs to reign it in some if she plans on getting back on top. However, I can't think of another coach in WBB I would count on more than her to get it done if she's still motivated to do so.

Can you name another WBB coach who has signed more 5 star players than Dawn these past 5 years? Obviously the parents of highly rated players want their children under her influence.

utter stupidity is a sign of your mental decline.

Posts like yours are an example that no matter that some people are exceptional in sports, it's never good enough when your own personal biases are unreasonable and would never be applied to someone you like, no matter how poorly they perform.

In the 2025 rankings, we are one of three teams in the country with 2 recruits ranked in the top 15. UCONN isn't one of them. We are ranked 4th in the team rankings, ahead of UCONN.

In the writeups for the rankings, they remind any idiots out there that Coach Staley has won 3 national championships at South Carolina, including a little over a year ago.

Another perspective that might not be the prevailing one on a barely used message board dominated by middle aged and older men

my daughter is in high school. She's not on the basketball team but one of her best friends is on the high school team. She has told me a number of times that Dawn Staley is like ROYALTY with girls on the team. They have a UVA poster up on the wall with her picture on it in the hallway outside their gym, plus pictures of the first national championship at South Carolina.

I have a customer in the low-country area that works with a number of after school programs. When I was walking through one of those program locations late last year, I saw our women's basketball posters up in 2 of their center locations.

Last year, I was at a school district in the upstate. When walking through their admin offices at the district office, I briefly met their district coordinator for athletics. When she found out I went to South Carolina, she told me that Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks were the biggest thing going with their high school girl's teams.

Gomey - You've listed 6 seasons above and no sources? :)

Here you go:

Comprehensive Analysis of 5-Star Recruit Signings in Women's College Basketball (2020-2024)
This analysis delves into the recruiting trends for women's college basketball over the past five years, focusing on the number of 5-star recruits signed by various schools from 2020 to 2024. The data is derived from recruiting rankings provided by ESPN, which are widely recognized for their comprehensive coverage of high school basketball prospects. The goal is to identify which schools have been most successful in attracting the highest-rated talents, defined as 5-star recruits, typically the top 10-20 players in each class based on their potential and performance.

Methodology
The approach involved reviewing the top 10 recruits from each recruiting class from 2020 to 2024, as listed in ESPN's HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings and related articles. These top recruits are assumed to be 5-star players, given their high rankings, and their committed schools were noted. The total number of such recruits per school was then aggregated to determine the leaders over the five-year period. This method ensures consistency, though it may underrepresent schools with 5-star recruits ranked just outside the top 10, which is a limitation acknowledged in this analysis.

Year-by-Year Breakdown
Below is a detailed breakdown of the top recruits (assumed 5-star) for each year, along with their committed schools, based on the available data from ESPN and other sources.

ESPN Hoop Gurlz is the source. They rank the top players by number of stars and Hoop Gurlz actually scouts the players and publishes the analysis.

I included the most recent class of 2025 which makes sense given that's the most recent signed class and it would be quite odd to leave the most current class out given the discussion by a few was taking pot shots at how the parents of players see Dawn compared to Geno.

If someone wants to eliminate 2025, but include 2020, I'd say that's pretty damn strange given the discussion regarding how parents see the two coaches. Who gives a shit about 2020 in such a discussion compared to 2025? No one with any sense.

But including 2020, South Carolina leads UCONN. Eliminating 2020, South Carolina still leads UCONN.

But, I included 2020 because that's the last year UCONN signed more 5-star players than South Carolina.

2025 class
5 star players - South Carolina - Makeer at #6. McDowell at #15.
5 star players UCONN - FIsher at #26

Well 2025 WBB Signing runs until August 1, 2025.

Today's recruit tend to bounce around before that deadline.

If that happens, then a revision will be necessary. But I think the current status is most likely remaining as is.

I think it would be very unexpected if one of the 5 stars at South Carolina left, or UCONN's 5 star left, or either South Carolina or UCONN got one of the 5 stars from another school in the summertime.

Are you sure your math is correct even if you're using that one source?

For example, in 2023 UCONN had two five star recruits -- not one as you've listed above?

I overlooked one.

So UCONN and South Carolina are tied at 14 for 2020-2025. I edited the post above.

I think the "parents don't like Dawn Staley' sentiment offered by a distinct minority of middle age and older male message board posters is laughably wrong, stupid and pathetic.

I don't know how accurate it is but as of right now

the 2026 #1 ranked player is listed at a 35% chance of coming to South Carolina closely followed by 30% to North Carolina. No other schools are listed on the profile that was available. I'm sure a lot of schools are on her list but apparently we are most favored as of right now.

I was simply looking for accuracy and a reference point to support what you were asserting.

Not everything needs to be framed within context of gender, age, and skin color.
