We gonna get a real OC now?

Agree Satterfield will return. He helped us win 6 games despite having average QBs and arguably the worst OL in over a decade. Let's see what he can do with some better players.

That factor is bothersome. We have two offensive linemen committed and one in the portal going the other way. A largely veteran line just finished a season mostly playing like crap. This unit could put the brakes on everything if it isn't shored up.

Veteran? They went through 3 coaches in 3 years. They started over every year. Those guys played a lot of games but weren't consistently coached to grow from the experience. So no, we didn't have a true veteran line.

We all know that the environment has been less than ideal. The question is did the latest tutelage advance it from the previous year. I'm not seeing where it did.

At the end of the day it's still protecting a QB and opening holes for a RB and that did not happen. At all. We can keep the OL coach. But Satterfield did a horrible job calling plays.

What plays do you call when the O line doesn't open any holes or protect for more than 2 seconds? All play calls look terrible when they get blown up before they can start.

Wonder why Murphy decided to enter the portal....seems he was making good progress for an OL. Played in 8 games as a backup as a RS Soph.....that isn't bad.

Yes but isn’t the offensive coordinator’s role to coach the entire offense? It’s a system. At the end of the day someone needs to accept ownership and that’s the OC.

You get the ball out quick. You get it into space and you keep the defense honest. It didn't take a genius to see our OL was pitiful. It was literally one of the worst in all of college football. That's the obstacle and that's what you have to overcome. Just like scheming to take a LB out of the game, not running to the side a player like Will Anderson is on. It's the OCs job to make those adjustments.

This is exactly what I am wondering. I honestly do not know the answer.

Would you please explain to me why our OC is deemed by some fans to be so bad? If we had a superstar OC in that position this year with the players we had, how much better would we have been? Perhaps the presumption we don't have a good OC has taken a life of its own.
Well one thing is for certain, this offense was no better at the end of the season from where it started

If some of you guys know so much about being an offensive coordinator, then why aren't you out there making big bucks doing that?
This is one of the dumbest arguments in these situations. Do you have to be a chef to know that a particular food isn’t any good? Did you have to be a mechanic to know that Yugo was a bad car?

This was one of the things discussed last night when the news broke about Rattler committing. We now have 3 QBs who are more spread style guys and an OC that keeps talking about having an NFL system. Is the OC going to be willing to adapt to the players we have or just bring in these guys and keep trying to force square pegs in round holes.

Not saying I want Satterfield, but no one was doing much with that group.
Anyone will be better with Rattler.

I've been very open about my opinion that we need a new OC. I still believe that because of the lack of adjustment that I witnessed throughout the year, and his past track record. But whatever SB is doing presently, it's working and getting pieces that we desperately need here. He's working his butt off. If he thinks we're just a few pieces away from having a competent offense with Satterfield at the helm, I support his decision.

Good players can make coaches look like geniuses, and bad players can make coaches look like duds.

rattler came here because of the pro style offense satt runs, so what do you guys think?
That Satterfield’s offense still sucked last year. Nothing is going to change anyone’s thoughts on that.
