6:21 p.m update (from Wes):

** Just caught up with Jacksonville (Fla.) Andrew Johnson three-star LB Grayson Howard who made it in for the junior day, the latest in many trips to Columbia for Howard.

Howard said one of his favorite parts of the trip was learning about the nutrition side of things and learning to make a pizza for the first time as part of the nutrition demo.

He says he has a great relationship with all the coaches. He talks to Clayton White and Shaq Wilson the most but there's a comfort level with the whole staff right now.

Howard says he'll be at Tennessee next week and will probably release top schools in the spring or summer.

** Whit Weeks did not make it in today but has already rescheduled his visit for next weekend. Whit did confirm that his brother, West Weeks made it in for his visit yesterday.

** Dillon (S.C.) class of 2024 OL Josiah Thompson made it in and spent quite a bit of time with fellow 2024 OL target Kam Pringle. I haven't spoken directly with Thompson yet but did pick up some feedback that the visit went great and the Gamecocks are in great shape here.

** Confirmed that Sumter (S.C.) DE Monteque Rhames and New Bern (S.C.) DT Keith Sampson both made it in for their visits, as did Hillgrove four-star WR Cayden Lee.

The same goes for Charlotte DB Chris Peal, who is someone the Gamecocks have been on pretty heavily.

5:25 p.m update (from Chris):

A few more updates here..

A couple guys were not able to make it in for various family and/or weather reasons.

Vicari Swain and Jaremiah Anglin weren't able to make it, but Swain has rescheduled already for next weekend.

A couple other ones did...

2024 OL Kam Pringle, a long-time priority, did make the trip as planned. More returns on him later.

Another from the '24 class, corner Zion Ferguson out of Georgia, was also on hand.

"I had a great visit," Ferguson said. "I got to meet with all of the coaches and see the facilities."

5:20 p.m. update (from Chris):

Here's an update on three-star back Jaylen Johnson out of Georgia after today's visit:

4:55 p.m. update (from Chris):

*** 2023 Charlotte area running back Daylan Smothers was on the visitor list for today but tells GamecockCentral.com that he didn't make it in today.

*** In some good news, 4-star corner Sharif Denson out of Florida did make it in and seemed to really like his trip.

"It was great," Denson told GamecockCentral.com. "I loved everything about it. They upped their stakes from this one visit."

ORIGINAL UPDATE:

As you know by now, South Carolina is set to host the first junior day of the Shane Beamer era today (remember recruiting was still shut down this time last year) as the Gamecocks will host several top underclassmen targets on campus today.

For those who have been worried about the weather and/or the cold, remember these are very different than a "camp" which takes place in the summer. Junior days are events put together to give a prospect an idea of what the school is all about. Most, if not, all of it will be inside and there's no physical activity.

The junior day kicked off at 9 a.m. with registration and breakfast at that time before an official welcome from Beamer and the assistants at 9:45.

Today's event features player panels for prospects to ask questions, academic presentations, a photoshoot, nutrition demos and a weight room and training room tour/presentation, all at the ops building.

The event closes with an optional trip to the men's basketball game if prospects want to go.

We will certainly post any feedback we get today and of course will look to have even more feedback in the coming days.
