last night it appears Clemmy is going to hire Monte Lee, and if he keeps some asst Clemmy coach named Lecroy, USC is in deep doo doo baseball-wise in the state of SC. Monte Lee is "a great coach and recruiter, and LeCroy is one of the best recruiters in the country year in and year out." I must admit I was hoping they wouldn't pursue ML.

I dislike Clemson as much as anyone here, but I like their new baseball coach, if in fact it is Monte Lee. He will turn Clemson's program around. And there won't be much joking about him like there was about Legget. He's all class and a great coach.
 
USC and Clemson don't recruit a lot of the same players. They do at times- but it's not like it is in football.

Who is to say Lecroy would stay? If Lee leaves, I could see Charleston looking to hire him.

If the guy wants to be a head coach, he's going to have to leave Clemson at some point.

South Carolina baseball is fine - and will be fine regardless of Clemson.

That has more to do with the coaches than the schools. Itcould change with a new coach, for either school.

So I guess they're having to hire a Gamecock to fix their program! Surprised they went that route!

except for last year, the suns been shining on our butt for the past 15 years. im sure you remember all the beatdowns clemson has taken at the hands of the gamecocks....especially those half a dozen post season games where we were packing your bags for you, right?

i guess should caveat that powerhouses like liberty, uconn, and xavier were able to do the same so you may get confused with who did what and when.

it'll also probably only cost around 50 million dollars to bring kingsmore up to speed with carolina stadium, which if littlejohn is any indication, you'll pay that twice. happy trails buddy and congrats on the solid coach.

i remember 20 something years ago that clemson had the "bengal babes"...i believe thats what they were called....they use to escort recruits around campus....i know this because, i graduated with a girl that did that....not sure what they have now.....but thats definitely a selling point for any football player....GIRLS!!!!
 
Be thankful you caught lightening in a bottle for those 2 years. Helluva run that spoiled you. Eventually, breaks that go for you go against you. It's the nature of winning championships- takes lots and lots of luck combined with great team. That team chemistry was much better than the talent and teams win over individuals
 
This is no big deal....SEC, facilities, exposure.....advantage,South Carolina. We will always pull top recruits no matter who our coach is. We dedicate a lot of resources to the program.
 
I like Monte Lee, but the problems are much deeper than Jacklegg and I don't think Monte Lee can fix it...

Let start with the baseball program and the facilities... Then look towards Dan and his commitment to the baseball program...

If I'm Monte Lee, I would get it all in writing the major upgrades or just stay at CofC where it's good to be the King...

There's a reason people are seeking to hire and pay a lot of money to Monte Lee and not you.

Some of you people crack me up. If it has anything to do with Clemp, you're against it. You sound like a Democrat. If it's something the GOP supports, you're automatically against it without even reading it.
 
I feel ML would come to USC if offered. However, who knows IF and when this will ever happen. He will make a decision I feel that fits his family first and then his career.

Are you an A$$ hole or do you like being an A$$ hole... I pull for both Carolina and Clemson... And at the end of the day, I pull for Carolina vs. Clemson....

I had a son to graduate for Carolina this year and another son who is attending Clemson...

I've seen the Clemson's baseball facilities and it's nothing to write home about...

Monte has a good thing going on at CofC and I don't think he would leave CofC for Clemson because of the facility and the AD... I could be wrong, but anytime you fire a coach like Jacklegg and not let him go on his terms...

They way Carolina took care of June was a very Classy way.. June saw the writing on the wall and McGee didn't kick June to curb...

WGAS where you kids attend school? I wish we had Clemp's problems. They have a better record than us in football and baseball. I haven't checked, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are better in basketball too. We haven't dominated them in round ball since McGuire.

They've been spending money on their campus in like forever. We just started and have a long way to go to catch up. You can blame it on Cola all you want, but we all know the truth. The USC BOT has for years done everything on the cheap.

They're ranked higher than us in virtually every national college ranking service I've seen. In fact, I can't recall a list that ranks us higher overall. It's not just USN&WR. It's every one I've seen.

Yeah, they've got real problems. Get over yourself.

Sorry to spoil your " Clemson is better" and "we suck" at everything pity party. However, Clemson baseball finished this past season with a 32-27 regular season record, 32-29 after two tourney losses that somehow they got in. We finished with a 32-25 record. Pretty even and according to Boyd's World we were one spot ahead of them in RPI. Brad Brownell just finished his fifth season at Clemson in basketball with 16-15 record. Frank Martin just finished his thrid with a 17-16 record and beat Clemson soundly during the season. Pretty even until you consider Martin inherited a much tougher situation than Brownell. Brownell took over for Oliver Purnell when he took another job, but Clemson BB was decent and making strides under Purnell. So next time you may want to check some facts before posting

Look who is talking! You sound like a millennial whose reading comprehension is nonexistent. Head to head Clemp has a better record than us in football and baseball. Look it up, junior. Not sure about basketball overall but in the past 25 years I'm confident Clemp has won more.

I notice you didn't respond at all about my other points. You know I'm right. We're making strides, but we have a ways to go.

However, 2014 was a huge step backwards in football. No reasonable person can deny it. The problem is we don't have a young Latt, Alshon or Clowney on our roster. We look like we did in the 1979s. Nice team. No superstars. But, unlike the 70s we're in the SEC now.

Most things about clemsux are negative. They're self absorbed and will lie in a heartbeat if they think it'll benefit them or put them in a more favorable light. Kinda like republicans & democrats. If it's something the democrats want, the republicans are automatically against it. See what i did there? Go back to taternet!

You must hang out with some real assholes. All the Clemp (and UGA) I know are actually pretty good people. Even on game day, the ribbing is good natured.

They have a better stadium and other facilities and their fans are better than our fans and we should strive to be like the clemsux athletic program because they are better than us...." the only "us" tater is you and your clemsux taters....at least have the balls to admit their your team instead of pretending to be a Gamecock.

Don't know who you think you are calling junior, but I don't think I insulted you anywhere in my response. However, like most others on here you take to insulting anyone that posts facts that contradict your point. My reading comprehension is just fine, no where do you say Clemson vs USC head to head, if your talking the history of football and baseball or any other sport say so. As for your other points, no Clemson hasn't been spending money on their sports facilities "in like forever" as you said. They tried to update their baseball stadium at the end of last season, why? In response to Carolina Stadium. They tried to update LittJohn , but still want to spend 61M to update more. Why, because the CLA is a much better facility. As for football stadiums, besides their work in the west end zone, the rest of the stadium needs a lot of work. Just as WB could use some work.

Well let me address a couple of things you said in your post

Mens basketball is 89-76 in USC's favor.

Are you referring to Academics?
For academic facilities we just built a state of the art 100 million business building for our nationally regarded business school. We are building a state of the art building for the Law school. Arnold school of public health building just built 10 years ago and numerous other examples of schools at USC that have seen tremendous upgrades in the past 10 years.

Are you talking about Student activities centers?
We have the strom thurmond wellness center that is second to none, Greek village that the taters can't even approach. NUMEROUS "green" dorms that have been built or upgraded in the last 10 years alone.

Surly you cant be talking about Athletic facilities.

So please tell me where we lag behind clemzen and they are spending money on their campus and were not? Unless you were full of it and just trying to troll then all I have to say is good job.

Our fans need to forget about our back to back titles on the diamond and 3 straight 11 win seasons on the gridiron.

Our 2 teams, collectively, have given all of that momentum away and it's like those successes never happened.

There is no excuse for the football team not to be even ranked in the top 25 or the baseball team to not make a regional with all of the recent success.

Tanner has some tough decisions coming up in the new year if things don't drastically improve for both teams this year!

Yeah, but Clemson will have an oculus this fall. We can't compete with that.
