Well, our Poor

I do not understand the disconnect that makes people think that a meaningful number of manufacturers are going to start making goods in the United States again as opposed to other countries that allow the product to be cheaper.

especially given the inconsistent nature of Trump's approach.

Who wants to go invest in a factory in the United States to make a product that is made cheaper in another country, only to have Donald Trump or even the next president reverse course on them?

Do Americans really want to pay more money for televisions or appliances?

Even Republicans and right leaning advisors are on tv saying this will be inflationary on prices.

It's all so unnecessary. What could have been a very narrow and targeted approach is a shotgun blast into the bathwater while we are sitting in the bathtub.

I guess one good possibility is that things get sour and Democrats win big next year. That is what Rand Paul is already talking about.

Yeah we are just seeing the end result in republicans talking nonsense for the past 20 years.

It’s obvious none of it actually works, the older republicans knew it never worked. But the younger to mid 40s republicans never picked up that they were just being lied. Their whole identity is wrapped up in the lie so they’re really struggling to admit their entire worldview has been wrong.

People like Ward just see any “positive” news and Parrot it. He doesn’t realize the March job numbers just show that Trump inherited a good economy and is ruining it with these tariffs. Let’s look at the jobs numbers a few months after tariffs are implemented. The same way he posted a graph of how inflation was nosediving at the end of the Biden term. That just further highlights that this downturn is solely based on Trump’s poor decision making.

As Dave Chapelle said, “I wanna wear Nikes, I don’t wanna make them shits.” No one wants these jobs. As you said, it’s no point in building new plants in the US when the Democrats are going to immediately overturn all these nonsense as soon as they get back in power.

So we are just stuck in this weird space where everyone is going to suffer until the Republicans stand up to Trump and he goes to being a lame duck.

If they don’t, as Paul said this could be a generational win for the Democrats.

Most everything you haven't been able to understand eventually goes down in a completely opposite direction of the way you predicted though.

This website is full of your bad predictions.

Why do you believe this time will be different?

Damn you hate moving huh.
Yeah I love it. Upgrade every time, rake more tax free profit every time. Lately it’s gotten ridiculous with the last two homes doubling with hardly any remodeling, thanks to Bidenflation. That’s also the reason I love real estate. You always make money on it even with morons running the country. Tax sales are even better for rental income. I’ve gotten properties for .10 on the dollar so your up 1000% from jump. That’s why I couldn’t rely on something as unpredictable as the stock market. Truthfully I think its a scam that’s manipulated by a handful of people and the government, but whatever it is, I’ll stay with a sure thing. Real estate

This is such a weird thing to lie about. You mathematically can’t just pickup and move every two years and make a profit on your home.

Also, rentals aren’t that successful. I know as I actually own a rental property. My grandmother owned 4 when I was growing up. They were always a nightmare.

My rental basically offsets some of my other capital gains made elsewhere and is about the be a big loser when I have to replace the HVAC system soon.

You certainly can in a hot market with low interest rates like we had much of the time between 2008 and when Big Joe came to town.

We both know this isn’t true and it has to be killing you right now.

🤣. Your hilarious. I’ve never met anyone so clueless. I never heard of the law you speak of. You can’t move every 2 years or so. I guess Im going to jail then lmao

The reason you can’t understand it is because you have no clue how to invest. You just bought a new car right? You took out a mortgage to buy your hone right? You bought your home from a realtor right? Move along and don’t speak on what you don’t know which is anything real estate related.

Haha complains about inflation then begs for the return of low interest rates.

This is the cognitive disconnect required to support the Republican lies @DeeDave and I are talking about.

The only thing that's killing me is the fascination that you haven't already deleted one of the worst social media accounts in history.

Sure - there's been burner accounts that have been worse.

But 20+ years and 14,000+ posts of total crap? That's hard to do.

and Vance's latest trip to Greenland resulted in him never leaving the Air Force base to avoid protestors.

85% of Greenland residents aren't interested in being Americans.

Your Grandmother was smart. She made a killing, what happened to you? Grew up soft and lazy didn’t you. They say a successful family is usually ruined by the 3rd generation. That math works. Good job screwing it up.

Your grandmother wouldn’t have had 4 of them if she wasn’t making lots of money. She knew what she was doing. You should have paid attention.

I doubt I would be bidding against Blackrock at the tax auctions if they were a loser. Lol

My experience is most working class people want cheap goods. South Carolina has a lot of Walmarts and such- and very few mom and pop hardware stores. There is a reason for that.

I do not know many South Carolina residents who want to go to Sams Club to buy a $1300 tv that was $299.

I agree, the "living wage" phrase is an odd one at times. But of course, this is also exactly what Donald Trump has campaigned on, he just doesn't use that specific phrase. I mean he spends a lot of time talking about "high paying jobs" coming back to America. In other words, a "living wage." He simply couches it in different terms.

But the reality is, most of these jobs will never come back in any real degree. That's because of automation and improvements in manufacturing technology.

I am almost always amazed when I visit a manufacturing plant, especially those built in the 1960s and 1970s. I always over-estimate how many employees they employ. Part of my job will be asking how many employees they have on staff. This happened on Tuesday in Charlotte. I visited a plant that I would have guessed had 200+ people. They actually had 33 and business is strong. Their employees are computer operators. The computers run the equipment. So they have less employees as a result.

A guy at the church I use to attend is a manager at a plant that constructs a product that is sent to Japan for finalization. I have not talked to him recently, but they are not closing their Japanese operations and finalizing the product here in South Carolina. That's not what they want to do. They do not have the expertise to do it. Most of their customers are Asia in anyway. It would make no sense and would only increase their costs, possibly putting their business at risk.

The nutty thing about a good number of these tariffs, as Fox Business pointed out this week: some of the tariffs we have levied are against countries that have no tarrifs at all on us. It's likely pissing off those folks and causing them to start looking for more reliable partners in other countries.

It's not just about tariffs. They are also taking into account currency manipulation. And also taking into account regulations and restrictions that some countires put on products that are there only to weed out anybody from foreign markets. And if Democrats believe what they say, they should also take into account countries that don't support a minimum wage. $15/hr minimum wages in the US don't mean much if there aren't jobs to provide wages. How is it fair to put that requirement on US companies and completely ignore it for foreign companies?

And everybody loves a deal. In my experience, it's the wealthiest that will pinch a penny the hardest.

Any country that allows that shouldn't be allowed to trade with us, period. Many in my family were hardworking textile employees. And proud of it. And earned a "living" wage. Until "free" trade destroyed the industry. You can see the remnants of that all over the South. Entire communities turned into poverty-striken almost slums. Maybe people should be willing to pay $40 for a plain American made shirt instead of $40 for the same Cambodian made shirt that has a snotty logo on it.

Another illegal just killed a USC student in a hit and run.

That was awful. I was eating lunch with my son today and asked him if he knew that young man and he didn't. He looks a bit like my son which is an odd feeling.

There have been something like 27 accidents at that intersection in the last year. I know this was a motorcycle issue but there city and university should build walkways over Blossom Street to Assembly Street. They have a couple but need a few more and they could make them look really good with not much effort for the students and pedestrians.

I do hope they do not deport this guy before he faces a long, long prison sentence. I don't want him out of jail in another country.

Dagen McDowell, on Fox Business - a big Trumper- was blasting the President this morning for this exact thing. She was ripping the myriad of issues wrapped up into this and was pointing out raising tariffs is likely the worst way to address most of these concerns.

Plus, as was also pointed out, some of these issues have much deeper roots because of American policies that we won't negotiate on anyway.

Chain gang for life. Minimum. Death sentence max. He’s a three striker so

The 4 star General was widely admired by Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill.

Trump reportedly fired Haugh after a meeting with far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer in the Oval Office in which she insisted heads should roll over Signalgate – the scandal involving top Trump officials discussing bombing Yemen on the messaging app Signal.

Notably, the General was not involved in the Signal chat episode. So, the firing took lawmakers off-guard.

The age of flexible "principles'

While Promoting His Memoir, JD Vance Repeatedly Said U.S. Manufacturing Jobs 'Aren't Coming Back' and Bashed 'Hyper-Protectionists'

“So many of these jobs that have disappeared from these areas just aren’t coming back. They haven’t disappeared so much from globalization or from shipping them overseas,” Vance said in a January 2017 interview with Education Week. “They’ve largely disappeared because of automation and because of new technological change.”

“Can’t be repeated enough: if you’re worried about America’s economic interest, focus more on automation/education than trade protectionism,”

Yeah Dems have no credibility whatsoever when they say Trump will increase inflation with these tariffs. None.

None of the below Trump supporters are Democrats.

“Tariffs are a tax, and I’m not a fan of raising taxes on millions of Americans,” - Ted Cruz, 4/3/25 on Fox Business

“It’s a bad idea, and I don’t see a way out,” said one senior GOP senator who requested anonymity to comment on the impact of Trump’s tariffs.

“I was just in meetings today with different business associations. … They’re all concerned,” - Republican Senator Thom Tillis, North Carolina, who faces a tough reelection campaign next year

Senator Tillis also questioned Trump’s stated goal of revitalizing domestic manufacturing when rising tariffs are likely to increase the cost of the equipment and supplies businesses would need to purchase to set up new facilities in the United States.

“How do you do that if you have to buy the equipment that’s going to be subject to a tariff, in terms of making the business case?” -Tillis said

Republican Senator Ron Johnson, a strong Trump supporter said, “I’m concerned. The stock market is concerned. I’m concerned,” a visibly flustered Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said on Thursday. “I don’t have the president’s strongly held belief that this is absolutely what has to be done."

“Tariffs are a terrible mistake. They don’t work. They will lead to higher prices.” - Republican Senator Rand Paul said on Wednesday

If you want people to go back to living like the cotton mill workers, you're really wasting your time.

I had thought the same thing but right wingers aren't mentioning it and right wing radio and cable entertainment shows haven't mentioned it.

Trump refusing to enforce Federal Law. In fact, the way the law is written, this means Trump is actively violating federal law.

Guy Benson of Fox News did point this out himself today on social media

Tariff Gomers seem to forget that these are reciprocal tariffs to match the tariffs from other countries.

It's the opposing country's choice whether to deal with a US Tariff or simply drop their tariffs against us.

Countries like China have had booming economies and a big part of the reason is that they were able to impose tariffs for decades while we did not.

Check out the cities in China today. They make our largest cities look like the slums.

Corporations are purposely scaring Gomers by selling these artificially inflated assets (M7) and then they will buy them back at a much lower and reasonable price when all of the Tariff Gomers have liquidated out of fear.

Our House Gomers have been on a tear today.

They are fresh off their analysis of the electricity crisis in the Northeast due to the Canada tariffs....and that was fresh off them explaining the interworking of tax revenue and the IRS.

Looking forward to revisiting all of their nonsense in a few short months -- just like we always do. :)

One things for sure. If you want to know what side of the argument to join or action to take just take the liberals opposite. 100% success rate with this fool proof formula

Hopefully they keep selling the market down another 30%. Trumps setting the table for us. Karma’s a bitch liberals

Those old textile jobs from the 80s and 90s would be a huge upgrade for a lot of people today. Everybody can't work for the government and live off taxpayers.

No, they wouldn't. Even the last few remaining we had in SC in the late 2000s barely paid above federal minimum wage. It was even worse in the 80s and 90s.

I get the nostalgia, because my uncle owned a couple textile mills that went out of business in the early 00s. He still complains about the incentives that BMW got at the exclusion of the textile industry. But those workers at BMW significantly upgraded the wealth of the communities compared to what we had.

Ridiculous. There were jobs at all levels in those plants. Most of my family that worked there in the 70s and 80s owned a 3 or 4 bedroom home, had a couple of cars, and could afford everything the average American could afford. Most had at least a couple of kids and a wife that stayed home.

And of course that's where wages ended up by the 2000s. That's the only thing they could do to compete with 10 year olds making $50 a week overseas.

Truth is we dont know how this is going to play out because this hasn't been tried in our life time. And I dont recall dooms day coming when Trump gave us tariffs in his first term. That said, I would respect these guys opinions of what may be far more than I would Schumer when he has the nerve to stand up there and tell us what causes inflation post Biden.

You're asking the wrong question. If the tariffs were so successful his first term, why'd the market just have the worst two-day loss in history?
