A little bit of everything will easily have you paying more than cable per month.I want to take advantage of Cyber Monday.
Philo has everything sans live sports for $20/month. I don't like that their guide defaults to on demand for all programming (have to press right for "live" TV).Pluto, Stirr and others offer a large variety of channels for free. Few to no live sports, but there are movies, classic TV, reality, history, news, music and more.
Very true. I currently have YouTubeTV (around $70) and Philo (around $20), along with the Disney Bundle included in my Verizon plan. Was with Direct for 20 years prior to switching and at the end was at around $130. That was with old TV boxes, couldn't record, no library, on-demand, etc., and they wanted me to pay more to upgrade. I'm sure that I could have come out better if I negotiated, but I don't have time for that crap. Put your price out there for old and new customers, and stick with it. Pissed me off a new customer gets better deals than someone who was loyal for 20 years, or you had to call every year to get a lower price (hassle). I'm still coming out better money-wise, and I love the features that YouTube has. I wouldn't go back to Direct if they gave it to me.A little bit of everything will easily have you paying more than cable per month.
Hulu: Great as an aggregator for traditional cable tv shows and some Hulu original contentI want to take advantage of Cyber Monday.
I have Disney + because I’m a Star Wars and Marvel fan. Same goes for HBO Max since they have DC movies and shows. (Yes, I’m a big kid a heart) I watch some stuff on Hulu. My wife and I are trying Apple TV because we wanted to watch Ted Lasso (great show) and we watch Yellowstone on Paramount TV although that’s a free channel too. Yellowstone is fantastic.I have the Disney Bundle included free with my Verizon plan, but even for $13.99 a month (regular price), it's a good value IMO. My wife and I only watch Hulu, I watch some ESPN+, and my grandkids use my login for Disney. It's ALOT of content for $13.99 a month. If you can get it cheaper on a Cyber Monday deal, even better.
Thanks, great information,Hulu: Great as an aggregator for traditional cable tv shows and some Hulu original content
Disney+: Either have kids that like Disney shows or be a big Star Wars fan. Otherwise, meh.
Netflix: 10 billion original shows and movies. A lot of them are very average but provide some entertainment.
ESPN+: Meh. I no longer like their writers and I don’t watch non-major sports.
HBO: Tons of award winning series. Even some of the old stuff is still good enough to watch.
AppleTV: Nothing worth mentioning.
Paramount: SpongeBob?
Peacock: Just NBC online
CBS all access: Just CBS online

That's the most annoying thing. Cutting the cord really isn't cheaper - it just lets you have a little more control. I've got Youtube TV and record movies/shows I want to watch. Also use Amazon Prime for movies and shows and have a friend's netflix login (which I don't use, but my wife does).Yep, it didn't take streaming long to surpass cable in cost. It's so fractured. You have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Peacock, Disney +, and I'm sure others I'm not thinking of. No one service has everything. For us, we have Amazon Prime b/c we buy so much stuff there. For streaming, we've decided that Hulu and Disney + (we have kids) does the trick to get us most of what we want to see. For college football season, I just do YouTube LIve TV and cancel at the end of the season.
Fubo costs the same as Youtube TVFubo has everything and sports too.
We just got a subscription to that. Highly recommend.Britbox. Lot of good Brittish detective shows.
It's about $100 cheaper a month for us. And we have damn near every streaming thing you can have. But we also had one of the higher packages for Direct TV because I have to have ALL the sports. That's the most annoying thing. Don't forgot the cost of internet service, which is part of the typical cable bundle -- that's probably a part of that $100 in savings. It's about $100 cheaper a month for us. That’s fair.Paramount has Yellowstone…a tremendous show.
Apple TV also has some good shows: The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, Defending Jacob, etc.
Prime - you didn’t even mention this one, and there are some great shows.
Just depends on what you’re into.
I was shocked they had Shang Shi, Jungle Cruise, etc on for free so fast. My kids love Disney plus.Good thing about Disney + is that after their movies have ran their course on the main screen, you can watch them free on +. They have some new shows, marvel and stars wars oriented that maybe good if you watch those venues.
For us the savings counts all of it - streaming and internet. It may not be so for others, but for us it is. But again, our biggest cost was satellite/cable because we had a pricey package.Don't forgot the cost of internet service, which is part of the typical cable bundle -- that's probably a part of that $100 in savings.
If you liked the movie Shang Shi, you should find the Disney series of the "Behind the scenes" episode in which this movie was featured. It was about 45 minutes in length and very entertaining to watch as well.I was shocked they had Shang Shi, Jungle Cruise, etc on for free so fast. My kids love Disney plus.
