I want to say we win at @College Station finally but.... they play @Missouri before that week and have a good chance coming into that game 6-1.
I hope Missouri puts up a good fight and has them tired a bit.

I think we get Florida at home for a win this year. We have a bye week and they play Jawja the week before.
They will have already played some tough teams and hopefully we can get a game plan to expose something.

I think we fall flat against Georgia. Not that i was expecting it to be a close game that we can win... This just totally shapes up to possibly being a beat down like it was in 2015.
One way I could be wrong is if Georgia slaughters Clempson and gets a little ego but....

Just ready for the games to start.

Not sure the football program could ever experience the vast weight and sheer pressure on its shoulders the way a Kardashian husband would....

I will always support South Carolina, but what happened last season took some excitement away from me. Going down to Baton Rouge and getting beat against Louisiana State (should of been a winnable game) was bad and then South Carolina next game they get beat against Texas A&M at home by 45 points. I thought Missouri was a winnable game that South Carolina ended up losing. Also the last two games of the season against Georgia and Kentucky, South Carolina just got mauled.

Last spring was like a revolving door of coaches staying and going with the only coach that ended up staying from the previous staff is Coach Peterson. Maybe this is a good thing that really all the other coaches left the program. I have nothing personally against Travaris Robinson, but he needed to go. He might be a great recruiter, but he defense struggled to get off the field. At the same time though, the offense could of helped him by keeping the defense off the field.

I think South Carolina has some uncertainty at the quarterback and wide receiver position. If they manage to improve and scores some points and also help the defense stay off the field then I think it is possible for four conference wins against Tennessee, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Florida. Keep in mind, Florida last game was against Oklahoma in which a lot of players opted out for Florida and Gators did not look good. So, I think seven wins would be tops for South Carolina.

You tell me the surprise win and I'll give you the crumble. Hint- we always crumble after a surprise win.

Losing to ECU would be ruinous. All the good feelings would evaporate. If we beat anyone who is favored over us, I don't think it will be Florida.
It's the second game and first away game under a new staff. Eastern Illinois is about like Pacific University or Wichita State in 1980. Dorman High School could probably beat them. But the first road game against a decent opponent will test everything and expose weaknesses both in coaching and play on the field. By Florida we will have the deficiencies corrected.

I'm not saying it WILL happen. I am saying it COULD happen.

I still think we are looking at a 5 or 6 win season.

Anything COULD happen. This scenario of losing to ECU and beating Florida is on the outer edges of farfetched.

I was with you up until the decent comment. I went and looked, and unless I searched the wrong team, ECU was 3-6 last year, and 4-8 the year before that.

And that's playing against a non P5 schedule.

We have Florida at a good place schedule wise. I think we could win at Knoxville. First year coach for them. Their program crashed nearly as bad as ours. Hope we do not take Troy lightly.

With 1st year coaching staff, we'll probably be resilient at home and not so much away.

Win: UK and/or Auburn
Loss: Missouri and/or UT

Also believe we'll play Clemson tougher than we ever did under Muschamp, unless widespread injuries.

How do we go from not being competive, to beating A&M and Florida?????

That's true. But they are a lot better than Eastern Illinois. We also play them in Greenville, NC so that makes it the first away game against a decent team this season.

After 4-8 and 2-8 we ain't no picnic either.

Mike Houston is the head coach. He is famous for coaching the Citadel to a victory over the Gamecocks in 2015 in Columbia. Trust me; they will be fired up for this game.

He's a good coach. My grandson attended his specialists camp a few weeks ago and he thinks the world of him.

I have a bad feeling about that roadie in Greenville, NC. This board will melt down if the Shane honeymoon ends that quickly.

Hope I’m wrong, I just see a bad year 1. Rookie head coach, no name (cheap) coordinators. Feels like a recipe for disaster.

There will definitely be a learning curve and I expect to see some changes in the staff over the first few years. But even if we lose to ECU I won't see it as the end of the world. Every head coach had to start somewhere. I believe Shane has the ability and the tools to be successful. But I do see an up and down season this year and maybe next year.

Shane needs more money for assistants down the road, the $5 million or so for the current staff is not sustainable in the SEC. Shane needs elite coordinators for this to work, will keep saying that until I’m blue in the face.

Some on this board are severely underestimating the learning curve for Shane. Hate to see the blowback when he makes major mistakes, which are inevitable for a first time HC.
