in jeopardy right now. No hits today but will bat 3rd in the 10th. One last shot to make it 32 after breaking the Royals’ all-time record last night.

Come on Whit!

Wish he played for a better team or at least a "major market' team. So this would have gotten a more publicity

Went 0-6 today. Streak over. While we don’t see them much, and while they are re-building...the Royals aren’t a bad fit for him. They love him in KC and that franchise is pretty good to their players. He got a new contract this season when they really didn’t have to do anything. He was the best bargain in baseball. Remember hearing him on 107.5 saying maybe next season he would be able to re-work his deal. Dang if the Royals didn’t do it a month later. Gotta appreciate a team like that.

Royals being in a rebuild is an under statement. They will never be competitive while he is under this new contract. They are one of the worst teams, with one of the worst farm systems, and they don't spend big money on FA's. Hopefully he will get traded to a team at the deadline one year to a team competing for the playoffs.

I’m sure he will eventually. Good thing for him is he has no pressure and can just go out and play. He’s a player that has to earn everything as he wasn’t a can’t-miss guy. Lot of guys fizzle when they get to bigger markets / competitive teams. He keeps playing the way he’s played, no doubt his name will keep coming up. They couldn’t get enough for him last year as I don’t believe teams were sure he could keep up the type of ball he wasn’t playing, but the Royals saw how valuable he was. At this point it’s clear the guy is the real deal. Will be interesting to see what kind of offers come in for him at the deadline.

Regardless, before this season Whit was a guy who was one freak injury away from having to work a normal job for a while. Now, as long as he’s smart with his $...he should never have to work afternoon baseball.
