Why postpone bb game agains state. Should have Clemson

Bummer. We were going to spend a couple of days and take our granddaughter to her first game. Just my luck: The postponement announcement came after the hotel cancellation deadline had passed.

Call the hotel and tell them what happened. Talk really nice (as always) to the reservations people, and request to cancel or get a credit for another time. Cannot hurt to try.

Unlike the Clemson game there is dual interest in keeping the game. For one USC could use the extra win to add to the win column. Whereas SC State benefits from financially from playing a P5 school. Especially if we're the team with the Covid issues then I'm glad we postponed the game, no point picking up a bad loss if we're not at full strength.

Also Clemson wasn't going to postpone that game unless they benefitted from it which given the results they obvious made the right decision.

If COVID was not the case for us I wish we could have scheduled at least another in state school like Furman, Charleston etc....If we still have guys out with Covid come the Auburn game then I say the season will be all down hill from here.

Didn't Clemson refuse to postpone with no update on the covid rules meaning if they didn't agree to reschedule we'd either have to play or forfeit?

Reactions: rogue cock
Because our athletic dept would rather play clempsun with 4 players on the roster in a game we have zero chance of winning. Because they don't give a damn about the results of games we play.
The kids wanted to play……it was scheduled……..oh, btw, where did u play…..midlands tech?

Could it be that a loss to Clemson with a limited rooster is better than a loss with a full roster? Maybe Gamecock Nation gives frank a pass with a loss due to limited roster but not so much with a full team... maybe the whole thing was calculated.

Forfeit only applies to conference games
I believe those are individual conference policies and every conference is different. SEC rules provide for a forfeit unless the commissioner decides otherwise for a particular game.

It sounds like you can only cancel a game without forfeit if you are UNABLE to play.....inability to play is when you can't field a team....for basketball that would be less than 5 players.
