To achieve a redshirt, wouldn't you have to have set foot on the court and be eligible to play? My guess would be true Freshman.

I'm far from an expert on the subject, but I would think if he attended classes this past year, that would count as one of his 5 to play 4, thus in essence equating to a rs year.
Orrrrrr, the way his situation has been handled this far, he may just be classified as a junior.
