Roth was selected on a hunch by Tanner and we saw how that worked out. It seems Johnson was a bit of a hunch and hopeful for a few good innings and see what he did. Does this put in him rotation here on out or we saving him for the pen? If we get there, Omaha is a long tough stretch on pitching. if Reagan can get it going again, and Scott become setup man, then Johnson gives us another great arm showing he can go the distance. He may also make a bid for starting next year. Just imagine having Schmidt, Webb, Hill, Crowe, Johnson, Widener and I believe we had another incoming freshman this year that was to be great but had Tommy John surgery. That would be a ton of starters and some distance in bullpen if needed.

Doubt he becomes a full-time starter. Still too valuable in the middle relief/closer role. If the opportunity presented itself in the tournament again and he was fresh, I'm sure it would be highly considered though.

If his last start is any indication, how can he not be considered for a weekend spot. His control is probably the best on the team and he obviously has the stamina. It's a good problem to have that's for sure, knowing he's versatile.
