is a rangy 5-foot-10, 180-pound Class of 2024 safety hailing from the Trinity Episcopal Titans, a perennial power in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) that finished 8-3 in 2021, winning a state championship with a 22-21 victory over Benedictine School in an overtime thriller on Saturday, November 20th.

The Richmond, Virginia student-athlete has offers from 19 schools, with the Gamecocks’ competitors currently shaping up to be Arkansas, Ball State, Boston College, Central Michigan, Duke, East Carolina, Grambling State, Hampton, Indiana, Marshall, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina Ole Miss, Missouri, Penn State, Syracuse, the previously mentioned Hokies, Wake Forest, Rutgers, and Virginia.

Rainer plans to soon announce his top ten schools. A few months down the road sounds like about right for the three-star DB to trim down his list of potential suitors.

“I plan to announce sometime in November after the state championship,” he said, expressing confidence in the Titans’ ability to ‘run it back’ in the state playoffs for a second straight season.

Rainer realizes that many universities are pursuing his services, and he wants to get out of the gate quickly, aiming to make a decision sooner rather than later. Sometime preceding spring practice sessions for his senior year sounds about right for the Titans’ star.

Among competitors, South Carolina appears to be on solid ground, Rainer all but guaranteeing that the Gamecocks would make the cut when he announces his top ten schools.

“I believe that it is very likely. Obviously, Coach (Torrian) Gray is someone that I would really want to play for, as well as Coach (Shane) Beamer. The facilities, atmosphere at Williams-Brice Stadium, and the location. They have a lot to offer,” Rainer said.

He's especially a big fan of Gray. “He (Gray) goes above and beyond. He’s got that militaristic mindset. Obviously, he’s hard-nosed, determined, and ambitious. Coach Gray knows what he’s talking about. He knows how to get the best out of his players. He demands respect,” he said.

Rainer believes that Gray's mindset and ability to put players in the NFL are two reasons why he will highly consider South Carolina in the long run.
