Look at Miami's schedule prior to joining the ACC. It was littered with ranked opponents as was Notre Dame's schedules under Lou Holtz.

I know you can only play the teams that are on your schedule but struggling against Navy and again today struggling against Tulsa, does not help them in regards to their national ranking. If you're going to play cupcakes, at least beat them soundly.
