2 Gamecocks get a bump to 4 star on ESPN

If they were bumped to 5* tomorrow, would that make them better ball players?

This is what happens every June.

No, don't hand clap now. You all were saying how awful ESPN is at recruiting rankings and that we shouldn't be paying attention to them.................unless of course the rankings favor us.

Give me a break.

It goes both ways, some posters on here were panning the coaching staff for just signing 3 stars…now we have 4 4 stars in this class so far.

Actually it stays at 2 because neither Rose or Brubaker are 4 stars on ESPN. So if you go by ESPN it's 3 because they still have Braden Davis rated as a 4 star.

That's the crux of the problem with our class, none of these guys are consensus good gets.

Wow, somehow yall turn this into an argument?
We need fb season to hurry up and get here so we can ‘hit someone besides each other’. Of course there are a lot on here who just want to argue (over anything).

Me, on this subject, I simply look at it and ask; is it a bad thing that these guys got bumps?? I look at it, smile, figure it’s a good thing, and look forward to the next bit of good news.

No the problem is posters like you find something to complain about. For someone who claims to be a fan you have a funny way of showing it. Not a single positive post…
Trust me. I would love for the coaches to take away my valid reasons for complaining.

The composite ratings, Brubaker and Davis are both 4*s on average rating. But I am refuting your poor "point" that these guys are not "good gets". The offer lists prove otherwise.
You have no idea how accurate the offer lists are and which “offers” are actually committable.

I said consensus, not average. An outlier can ruin an average.

I don't pay as much attention to a recruit's ranking as I do his offer list. He's a 3 star with offers from Bama, PSU, ND, OSU, UGA, UF, FSU, and Oregon, he's probably perceived to be pretty good. If he's a 3 star with offers from Akron, Ga State, Vandy, Illinois and Rutgers, then maybe not quite so good.

I've never been one to get excited about a recruit JUST b/c he commits to us. That seems to be the sentiment of some...the coaches evaluated him, offered him and he committed, so he must be good!

The offers are reported, I will take those reports over your opinion.

You know, 10K posts and about 750 "likes" tells me all I need to know about you.
My opinion? My opinion has nothing to do whether or not you know something. I’ve been a member for 20 years, long before likes were a thing.

But that type of reasoning explains your faulty conclusions.

This response proves my point. Your "opinion" about the offers is just that, your opinion. The offers are reported by multiple sites.

in 20 years, you think you would have a better understanding of how things work, but again, please keep complaining, lord knows there is not enough of that on this board.

It isn’t an opinion to ask whether or not you know if an offer is committable.

That is by definition a question and clearly not an opinion.

See you keep changing your points to try and fit your own narrative. You stated "You have no idea how accurate the offer lists" well if 3 different sites are reporting the same thing, it's pretty accurate. It's not really an opinion. The committable or not, that one can be debatable.

But again, your original point that these guys "are consensus good gets" is false.

I am moving on.

Do you not think Prunty Brubaker were consensus good players? Could’ve Brubaker have gone to Penn St or Stanford? Prunty Fr AA

Prunty seems like a good addition.

I don’t pretend to know whether or not Penn State was pushing for Brubaker so I can’t answer that.

This is just my opinion but Davis will be a bust. I really don’t get the hype. He has an odd throwing release.

If Clowney was called a 3 star, what would that mean? Does the inverse of your implication not apply?
Absolutely! He is the same player he is in June as he was in November whether they call him a 3* or a 5*. His skill level does not change because some recruiting service changes their rating.

This is such a bad argument though. Clowney’s physical tools and ability were so impressive no one would have ever considered him a 3 star.
