The most fierce conventional weapon system of all time (B-52) will be honored by the Air Force Academy in their game against Navy this weekend. The Bomber 52 brought an end to United States involvement with Vietnam War with the Linebacker Two missions in December 1972 which destroyed what was left of North Vietnam air defense. The Linebacker Two missions forced North Vietnam to the peace table in France. I believe the B-52 is over 60 years old and is still active in the military with it home being in Minot and Barksdale and at times deployed to other parts of the world like Gaum and Diego Garcia . This bomber has been through a lot of conflicts and was always airborne throughout the '60s with missions like operation Chrome Dome to deter the USSR from a nuclear exchange.
