And another thing nobody is holding Spurrier hostage to nothing. That was dumb, Spurrier is not going to lose sleep over the 247th player in the country and you shouldn't either. If he comes here great if not I'm almost sure the earth will continue to rotate.

Re: You people need to stop being delusional

If anyone is delusional it is YOU. Step away for your keypad, and try to save any sense of your reputation that you may still have. We have beaten Clemson 5 out of 6 years by double digits (they have had years of better recruiting) We have won 11 games three of the last 4 seasons, 4 straight bowl wins. Not long ago we were 0-21 and the laughing stock of college football. Our 7-6 record this year is not the end of the world and the sky in NOT falling. Get a grip and move on, you need a life if you thing the world of college football revolves around you!

We kept him to save our recruiting class. Look at the results.

Re: You people need to stop being delusional

I don't think I'm the one being delusional skinner. I'm overreacting a little bit not by much. Things aren't looking good for the future of the program.

Re: You people need to stop being delusional

The dark ages? Now that is much more than a small overreaction. Go back and look at our classes and recruiting then. The only difference between being ranked 15/16th in recruiting and top 10 is only a couple players. Take our class and clemson's class as an example right now. They have nine 4 stars and three 5 stars, while we have eleven 4 stars and 0 5 stars. If one or two of our 4 stars ends up playing like a 5 star then we more than make up that "difference" in recruiting (or if their 5 stars don't pan out). Recruiting is not one of our problems. We have good talent coming in. It sucks to lose those decommittments but I think we have more than made up for those decommittments with other players we have brought in (minus Palmer and Fields and I guess Key). Now the coaching, that is another story. This year will let us know more about how much of it truly was bad coaching or just lack of talent. You can teach a player technique, angles, reading an offense/defense, and strength training, but if they don't have the talent then none of that matters.

Well I check into the board and see the same old dumb assess saying the same old dumb ass shit. This post is the most pathetic garbage I have ever read here, other than your other posts. You are a complete f'king moran and you do not know a single thing that you're talking about. If we were standing in a group and you said all of this I would step forward and slap your little piss ant face you fck head.

Readr00ster, some ol repetitive shit from you and your sidekicks I see. You all are true dumbasses and you don't know a damn thing that you're talking about!

And yes, recruits DO read these boards with young impressionable minds...if I read this board I'd rather play for Northwestern as to come to a support base such as this. They don't always understand that only dumb ass whiners stay on the board berating everything that is SC football, 100% of the time, win or lose.

I will agree I wish Whammy woulda been let go and someone else brought in in his stead...but haven't you whinny crybabies beat this to death long enough? When will your stupid repetitive garbage posts end? And your dumb ass crying about this very good recruiting class because a few got away. Guess what a few ALWAYS get away! From every school!!!

Please ban me for this post so I'm not tempted to come here and read what these total fools have to say any more.
LOL what a meltdown. Blame the fans blame the recruits, blame anything under the sun the but the guys that get paid the money to try to build a winning team. Pump pump pump the sunshine. What about that repetitive crap every day I have to read on here? Nothing is more repetitive than that BS.
We've won 40 games in the last 4 years!!! Doesn't that tell you anything about how SOS runs a program? One underperforming year and he's a lazy idiot to you guys??? SMH!
Later this year when you're watching this team struggle down the stretch. When it's late October and you start to project if we will get enough wins needed to play in a bowl game. I want you to remember this post. SOS is still the same coach. But minus the players now. It doesn't happen with pixie dust. He got a gift when Stephon Gilmore chose to come here. And from that point he rode a wave of talent that this state doesn't consistently produce, And he got almost every one of them to come here. Now they are gone and it's no ones fault the state doesn't have those guys right now. So expect the same records as pre-2010. Not because he's a bad coach, but because we simply cannot go into other states and get those type players. Were getting middle of the pack recruiting results which means you should expect a lot of toss up games and 5-8 win seasons. But if you want to ride the past 4 years win total fine by me,it's 40-12. But don't tell me SOS is gonna wave a magic wand and start winning 10-11 games a year again.

Yes. Bob Steckel was their DC and a very good one. He was hired as HC at Missouri State I believe.

I expect a toss up game every time we take the field.

I knew 2013 Florida would be a toss-up. And it was.

Re: You people need to stop being delusional

I agree next year we should be really good. I just think this recruiting is going to catch up to us after that. If 2 to 3 year comment Spurrier made hurt us that bad this year. I can only imagine how much worse it will get. We have to respond to the changing landscape and come to terms with the fact that Spurrier won't be here much longer. We've got to do something to keep recruiting well. With the current situation I don't see how we can. That's why I think we have to do something.

Re: We "stand pat" to save a recruiting class. Pathetic.

Judson1 I do not and have never disagreed that we need good fb players to consistently excel at the highest level. We do.
My wrath is directed at posts such as "ipull4usc's" most idiotic drivel anyone has ever taken the time to write in the history of mankind. And others of the same ilk. Abject stupidity. Blaming every single change of heart from a 17 yr old kid on Spurrier (and coaches). That is just insane! It truly is. Acting, and in fact saying out loud, that Spurrier is setting the FB program back to the dark ages....and on and on with that same talk. Truly the talk of idiocy. Showing their ignorance with every post. It's rather amusing in a sick way that a true tater comes over here every now and then and has more common sense about where we are as a program than this small but very loud group of haters does. And btw, this group is running off fans (like myself) that actually know the game of FB and can discuss X's and O's and personnel and games and plays and all the things boards like this were created for. I checked in after a couple weeks off, I'll check in tomorrow to see who all signed, then quickly leave because I'm quite sure all who signed will be immediately be called too slow or to dumb or cast offs that nobody else wanted or too this or too that and Spurrier is stupid....because there is never any hope until, well.....never actually.

Re: We "stand pat" to save a recruiting class. Pathetic.

Very realistic post....We are having to swallow a bitter pill and many on this board don't want to admit it , or face up to it.. They cite the last three years prior and look at the future through rose colored glasses.
For those name-callers out there please answer these questions:

1) Do we have a proven quarterback returning?
2) Do we have a proven defensive line, or are we hoping newcomers will produce?
3) Do we have a star running back?
4) Do we have a defensive coaching staff that makes effective adjustments?
5) Then what are we to be so happy about?

A 17 year old??? Are you sure? Many of these "kids" come in after their 21st birthday (Ohio St. QB). In a couple of states the high schools let these career high school athletes play for 6 or 8 years because they won't limit the age of a "student" enrolling in High School. Can you imagine being 15 and playing against 21 or 22 year old seniors? Awkward

"That is not good enough in the SEC. 15/16 in the nation
is basically 7th in the conference. And with inept coaching it just
makes it impossible to compete."

Yes, "impossible." Except that we went 11-2 three straight years with these same "inept" coaches.

The defensive production fell from 4th to 89th during that time span. But Lorenzo Ward has an explanation (keep in mind these are mostly his guys).

"You look at the numbers, it has to be personnel," he said after practice Thursday. "The scheme hasn't changed. We tried to go a little 3-4 to create more pass rush, which didn't happen, so toward the end of the season we went back to our 4-2-5 and stayed consistent with it. But the bottom line is if you don't affect the quarterback in this league, you don't have a chance to win a lot of ballgames. We didn't affect the quarterback. You're not going to do it all the time by pressure. So it goes back to us recruiting. We've just got to make sure we recruit some players that can affect the quarterback in a pass rush."

Re: You people need to stop being delusional

Gee golly, we have recruit players who can put pressure on the QB? No shi$&! Ward knows what's wrong and he's gonna fix it. Please, tell me what he did to stop a one legged QB?

In the immortal words of Eric Cartman...."I hate you guys, I hate you guys so much"

I see your side of it. I too do not think in the way of the OP. Were all pulling back and forth. One side is the sky is falling and it's all _____ fault. The other side is everything is just fine. And the truth is we have some solid players and a great head coach that will keep us competing in a whole lot of games. But 33-6 spoiled us. We can't keep that up because A) it's impossible for basically every team to do so. B) We don't have those record breakers from In-state on the team. and C) Our brand just isn't strong enough to go out and get another states Alshon or Marcus. It's a double edge sword and really no ones fault. SOS is getting old and every team would have recruiting challenges with that. I'm not saying that anyone is at fault for the situation. Just that things will probably not get a whole lot better unless we get an influx of difference makers. Who almost always come from in-state.

Its football....not life or death. Some of you have your priorities in life way out of line and instead of being happy you choose to worry and CONSTANTLY COMPLAIN about stuff you cant control.
What is doom and gloom? The team has major problems that need to be fixed. When something is broken, you fix it. Instead we did nothing while things got worse. It's inexcusable what Spurrier has been doing since the bowl game. All has he has to do to stop the bleeding is to do his job and go out and get us a new defensive coordinator people can start believing this team has a chance to start competing again.

We are not only a couple of players from being a top 5 class. If you think that you are crazy. It's more like 4-5 players and they need to be guys like Clowney and Lattimore, and Gilmore, and Holloman, and Alshon.

All the Clowney's and Swearingers' and Quarles are gone dude. We have gotten worse every year, under these QBs. Connor Shaw and a lot of luck won us the majority of the games. And Shaw isn't here any more either and I am pretty sure luck left with him.

It's not just about the pass rush. We can't stop the run. No one is covered in down the field the QB can just through a little curl route or a bubble screen and it goes for 40 yards. The QB doesn't need any time time to throw to shred us. We couldn't stop ANYTHING last year.

Re: You people need to stop being delusional

Spurrier didn't have the foresight to get rid of him in December.

He'll likely get rid of him soon- and it will really be too late.

But that's Spurrier's fault.

Re: You people need to stop being delusional

dreaming.

We will have a QB with ZERO starting experience- off a QB group that the coaches were blatantly reluctant to put into a game this past year.

We have 1 proven WR- and a host of guys with NO experience.

We will have a ton of new faces on defense- guys with no experience.

I am not going to say we will have a losing season. But those facts only scream "we will be really good" to the most diehard of rose colored glasses wearing fan.

We are not only a couple of players from being a top 5 class. If you think that you are crazy. It's more like 4-5 players and they need to be guys like Clowney and Lattimore, and Gilmore, and Holloman, and Alshon.
Well first of all I said top 10, not top 5, if you go back and actually read what I wrote. Second, according to rivals clemson is 3rd. As I said, they have (3) 5 stars and (9) 4 stars. We have (11) 4 stars. It is possible some of our four stars turn out better than their 5 stars, maybe they will maybe they wont. So tell me how we are "4-5" players behind being where clemson is? When it comes to high 4 stars and 5 stars there isnt much difference. You are just one of those people that get all obssessed with stars, like the stars make or break our recruiting class. Penn St., who is 11th has (11) 4 stars and (11) 3 stars, while we have 11 and 16, yet they are ranked higher. However they do their rankings it is just small percentage points of difference. All I am saying is our class is not as bad as some posters are making it out to be bc we have had some decommitments.

Sure...but there is that reality thing. You guys cry about Clemson's classes yet they implode every year...there is that reality thing. You want new coaches, but who would come here and make you happy>....there is that reality thing. You want every 5 star in the nation to commit to us....but there is that reality thing. Here is your reality. We are a great program, with a great fan base, with a HOF coaches that has brought us more success in 10 years than we have seen in the previous 108 COMBINED. During the 0-21 stretch there were fans packing WB. Was it because of the recruits, the coaches, the facilities, or the hundred other things you guys bitch about? NO. It was because they were true Gamecocks, and they were loyal regardless of the outcome. That gentlemen is the reality you should be seeking.

I hope you enjoyed it, because it's over, reality. Bring in a new coaching staff and let's meet reality straight on because this coaching staff has peaked and the reactions of the recruits are proving it.
