Beamer just said

I don't argue....I just post facts.
Hurts was a good QB but to insinuate he was a good passer is not accurate. He was a much better running QB versus thrower, but if Doty can duplicate his winning success, then I'm fine with that comparison. Being on Alabama of course helped Hurts win percentage numbers tremendously.

The year Hurts played for Oklahoma under Beamer and Co he threw for 3,800+ Yards with a 69.7 completion percentage, he had 32 TDs vs 8 INTs and a yards/attempt average of 11.3!! If that is not the stat line of a good passer I have never seen a good passer. For his CAREER- including the Bama seasons- he has over a 65% completion percentage, a TD/Int ration of 4/1 and a QBR of over 162!! He was a very good passer. Elite even.. He was just not as good of a passer as Tua who had a generational type arm talent.

Jalen Hurts could barely complete a pass early on so it isn’t that out of this world.
He passed for over 2700 yards that year with like a 23/9 TD/INT ratio as a true freshman in the SEC. That is a damn site better than “barely completing a pass”. In fact he completed 240 of them with a completion percentage of like 62%. I get why people sleep on his passing ability because of his athleticism but he had both.
We can all hope that Doty produces stats even close to what Hurts averaged in college. We will be a top 25 team contending for the East if he does as well as Hurts.

Amazing how a senior might be better than they were as a freshman?

How does that work?

Yeah that Alabama team was amazing. Imagine what his stats would have been if he could have could have thrown the ball well that year.

Shane Beamer did all he could do. He was well spoken and extremely positive. It’s talking season and he spoke well.

Soon we will evaluate the stuff that matters. He is following Muskrat, so he should show immediate improvement.

Hurts started the entire season. It wasn’t until HT that Tua came in to start. Are you saying Saban made a mistake starting Hurts all year long?
I’m saying Nick Saban knew Hurts couldn’t throw the ball.

No surprise when the time came that Alabama had to throw the ball they benched Hurts.

BS. If he couldn’t throw he wouldn’t have started all the games he did. Hurts got them to the championship. You said he could barely complete a pass and we’re proven wrong yet again.

Then why did he get benched at half time?

As usual your argument provides nothing.

See your problem (among others as I can tell) is you speak in hyperbole. You said he can’t throw at all, and that’s just a ridiculous statement that incites an argument that no one will win.

The real irony is the people arguing against me are the ones degrading Doty and they probably don’t realize it.

I appreciate it. It’s tough out here when so many of the counter argument guys just can’t admit when they’re wrong.
Absolutely. It can be frustrating when someone isn’t humble or self aware enough to realize their arguments are fallible. I know the feeling.

Of the championship game, which means he started the entire season. He was having a bad game, all players do. And he went WAY beyond barely being able to complete a pass as you Erroneously claimed.

Hmm. And what was he struggling to do?

If you go look at the game stats Hurts didn't exactly set it on fire in 16. That being said he was a brand new starter. Gets a lot of slack in my opinion. He got better through the years.

The irony being posters arguing in favor of Hurts are really arguing that Beamer's comments are wrong.

I actually think Doty to Hurts is a very fair comparison and I think it's obvious Doty would have had much better stats last year with a supporting cast like Hurts had at Alabama.

I really don’t understand some of you.

CSB compliments one of our players by comparing him to another pretty good player, and some of you bend over backwards trying to cut our guy down.
Yup....we just went 2-8...a little positivity is refreshing.

Then we have some jerks who like to take a dump on anything positive. Pricks gonna prick.

Do you call people pricks face-to-face? Can't you debate without childish name calling?
I don't debate...I do call it like it is. Perhaps you like someone who regularly denigrates the upward struggle our FB program is in?

Says the guy arguing Jalen Hurts is a much better player than Doty 🤣
