Good Lord.

Those statements are articulated through an anti-Garcia mind.

No offense to Shaw, God knows he's worshipped by fans, and he certainly RAN us to a couple of W's, but a great passer he wasn't. It maddeningly took him to his senior year to develop enough confidence to pull the trigger across the middle, and his passing success was due more to the gymnastic/acrobatic abilities of the elite group of receivers he was blessed with. That's why it tickles me when I see shade thrown at any of our qbs because an incompletion was a little behind or high.
While I think we have had a history of mediocre QB play here it is worth point out that Shaw is fifth on the all time list of passing yards, 2nd all time in TDs and has a higher yards per attempt average and half the INTs of the guys ahead of him on the list.

So it’s likely that both Shaw being one of the best QBs we’ve had come through here and Shaw isn’t exactly on the same level of Jalen Hurts can both be true.

BS. Your attempt at revisionist history is a fail. Go check the stats/records then come back and try again.

If you had any credibility on this forum, you just lost some of it.

Do you think Shaw would have had better numbers if he played on that Alabama team?
If he was a senior on the same team that Hurts was on as a freshman? That’s certainly possible.

While Hurts had Ridley and Howard they weren’t even the leaders on the team and it isn’t like Shaw wasn’t playing with a number of guys who are still in the NFL.

"Revisionist" heh. Cute; new word for ya? Stats are for manufacturing widgets. Put Shaw on Bentley's teams (or Hill's for that matter) and either of them on Shaw's teams and I think you'd find the "stats and records" would not change much. Perspective.

I have no interest in "credibility" here son. I just enjoy discussing football with the segment of folks able to understand and relate to what they see on the football field.

Obviously....."his passing success was due more to the gymnastic/acrobatic abilities of the elite group of receivers".
That statement is pure BS.

Here's what 20 straight completions look like. Tell us where the gymnastic/acrobat WRs are.

Then why did he get benched at half time?

As usual your argument provides nothing.
He got benched at halftime because he was having a bad game....something Muschump never had the balls to do. He was also benched because a 5star QB was ready right behind him. Doesn't mean he sucked....

OK. Byrd, Cunningham, Jones.

He did make a good over the shoulder throw to Sanders for a touch in that game.

Not trying to disparage Shaw, but a lot of you guys make out like he was a Marino clone. Your video was 90% dinks, dunks, swings, and short slants, the rest were the above guys spiderman-ing to make the grab; not a good choice to try to make a point. Shaw's career best throw was the 4th down in OT to Ellington AT Missouri for the touchdown in the corner of the end zone, where they missed the FG at the end. That throw was brilliant.

You mean the Jalen hurts that plays for the Philadelphia Eagles? The Jalen Hurts that was evaluated by professionals in the sport and drafted as a QB? The Jalen Hurts that had comparable numbers in 2020 to Tua Tagovailoa even though he started 5 games less? Hahahahaha, you guys dont know dick.
yes...apparently you didnt watch him play tackle football at UA. Also...every GA Bulldog fan on earth does know D in more ways than one...and this is just one of those ways. The guy that could throw won them a NC in the 2nd half of that game.

How damn dumb can some of y'all be?! Comparing a QB from Bama vs USC. Compare the other 84 players on those teams to each other. You're comparing apples to oranges based on the other variables involved. Good lord people.

wtf?

Yes you are. I present one of the best passing performances in the history of Gamecock football ( won SEC Offensive Player of the Week), and you denigrate it.
You're a sad man.
I’m quite happy and content actually. Retirement does that for a man.

Connor Shaw was a great qb for us. You’re missing the point.
