Blake McClain transfers

This is getting to the point that you have to wonder what's going on. I was really looking forward to seeing him on the field.

I think a lot of guys that thought they were in line for some real playing time are now smaller fish in the pond. It does make you wonder. If I remember correctly, I believe we pulled him away at the end of the recruiting cycle.

He had offers from Auby, Bama, UF & FSU. A 3* prospect.

Yeah, this doesn't seem the same as some of the others. He's young and was hurt for most of last year. Doesn't seem like someone who would've been encouraged to look elsewhere. Who knows.

The only question here, is why have so many not panned out, not why are so many transferring. You need to encourage players who will not play to transfer. Lets you fill up future recruiting classes to max. The ones who are leaving (other than Roland) are no big loss.

Either Ward isn't the great recruiter he's supposed to be or we are really missing Shane Beamer. Other than a few key players, the recruiting classes of the past three years have left much to be desired. Rankings were similar to previous years but the players have not panned out. That's an evaluation problem. There is no reason for our recruiting classes of 2012-2014 to be worse than they were from 2007-2010. I'm hoping that this most recent class ends that trend and we are making the changes necessary to get hard working guys into the fold going forward.

Keep in mind that Junior went out and brought this player in after his commitable offer from FSU disappeared close to signing day. I'm not sure how much serious evaluation he was given prior; it seemed more like they wanted to take a chance on a big body. Didn't pan out.

Guess what? The coaches already have.

I think, given the shuffle at the defensive coaching positions, the answer has to be Deke...with a side of Grady.
