, he was under FBI investigation. It was a long shot at best.Tanner and the SEC have no pull at all. Get rid of the NCAA
I'm sure deep down many of us knew he'd never see the hardwood at Carolina, especially since the FBI investigation is far from over., he was under FBI investigation. It was a long shot at best.
And he got the exact same punishment as Auburn's Wiley for the same thing. This was not a shock by any means., he was under FBI investigation. It was a long shot at best.

It’s more about the fact that they waited this long to make this “ruling”.And he got the exact same punishment as Auburn's Wiley for the same thing. This was not a shock by any means.
Hopefully, the team started preparing for this months ago when the Wiley decision was announced. The writing was on the wall at that point.
You won't live long enough because the only members are the colleges and universities like the University of South Carolina. The Board of Governors who run the association is made up of Presidents and ADs of the member schools.Funny how this situation sounds just like the Cam Newton deal.......yet the NCAA ruled so differently in this one.........go figuresCam didn't have to miss a quarter of football.......yet the NCAA felt Bowen needs to sit for basically two seasons. I hope I live long enough to see the NCAA fail.
I don't see how we can stand this much good news in one day.

These schools cannot govern themselves in a way that is equitable to everybody. If the NCAA was eliminated, then wouldn’t the colleges need to get together and form another organization to govern their sporting system, rules, etc. So the same people who formed the NCAA would need to form another NCAA. Maybe they’d pick a different name but the college presidents who govern and approve everything would be exactly the same.
So what’s the point? Unless you are advocating for eliminating organized collegiate sports.
About whom are we talking, now?He had off the field issues. Muschamp didn’t want him.
If the NCAA fails, what replaces it?

Yep, that explains it all....they have a personal vendetta against USC. Wonder what we may have done to piss them off so much. The board of govs don't handle the day to day operations and investigations with eventual punishments. They set standards and rules and approve budgets. The colleges and universities that are members have no other options this day and time. Let's face it, the NCAA craps on us at every ruling we're involved in, while the UNCs of the world offer fake classes for athletes and get by with it. Remember the cookie scandal under SOS.........that splains it all.
We hired Frank McGuire and Lou Holtz.Yep, that explains it all....they have a personal vendetta against USC. Wonder what we may have done to piss them off so much.

I don't "love" the NCAA. Just realize that their job isn't easy...especially with the constraints they are under. And I don't think they play favorites...they have nailed SoCal and TOSU, two big schools as far as athletics go. And they nailed Auburn worse than us....they have lost two top players as a result of the FBI investigation. It's not a personal vendetta.......just easy for them to take a hard ass stance towards us any time there's an issue we're involved in. Then they act like incompetent wussies when certain other schools are involved, or depending on the upcoming game where NCAA dollars might be affected (ie: Tarheels in basketball, or the Cam Newton issue right before the Nat'l title game). We don't affect the financial bottom line for them like oh, say, the Tarholes in basketball. But hey, don't let history cloud your love of all things NCAA.

What do ya mean? Are the same guys still at the NCAA?We hired Frank McGuire and Lou Holtz.
Their predecessors left word to keep on punishing us.What do ya mean? Are the same guys still at the NCAA?
Purely speculation and a bit reaching IMO.Their predecessors left word to keep on punishing us.
I was only jesting. I said what I did because it makes as much sense as any other reason a person might advance in explaining why the NCAA seems to be adverse to us.Purely speculation and a bit reaching IMO.
I don't know.........But I bet there was a time the Post Office and the local newspaper thought they were invincible also. Fedex, UPS, and the internet changed those businesses big time. It can be done.
FedEx and UPS aren’t governed by the USPS Board of Govenors. If you magically blew up the NCAA tomorrow and decided to create a new one, the people in charge of doing that will be the presidents of the member institutions. These are the same people in charge today, so your FedEx example doesn’t work because that is actual competition.
The NCAA needs reform, I agree. But to want it to disappear makes no sense unless you no longer wish to see college sports.
