Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat.

@samuraicock brought the news of the addition of Joc Pederson to the family. He arrived by Plane today but will not be in the starting lineup but will be available to pinch hit if needed tonight. We know he is very good at hitting right hand pitchers but historically struggled against lefties. Time will tell if that has been due to lack of opportunities or just one of those laws of nature. Welcome to the Tribe Joc. 😎.
There was another roster Moves of concern. Touki Toussaint has been activated to the active roster after going on the 60 IL at the beginning of the season. He could be a real shot in the arm to have back in the fold as he possesses some of the nastiest breaking balls in the system. The unfortunate situation that made a spot immediately available is the news of Ian Anderson having shoulder inflammation. There is no structural damage and he will be placed on the 10 day IL retroactive to 13 July day but don’t expect him back on the bump before August as the Braves will not take unnecessary risk with the young rookie. No throwing for the next 7-10 days and of course he will have to build back up his throwing routines.

The team begins a long homestand against some very good competition. The next two weeks will determine how aggressively they will pursue trade pieces or if they should become sellers. I wish I could tell you how this will play out but quite frankly it has been difficult to gauge this year’s ball club. They have been streaky good and bad but mostly bad. Too many losing streaks and blown saves. Too many empty at bats with strikeouts and one pitch ambush outs. The hitting coach has been on medical leave most of the season and hopefully he is back with the club. His absence has been felt and hopefully his presence will ignite a spark that has been missing all season.
Charlie Morton will throw tonight for the Braves and he has really been pitching well of late. Hopefully he continues to throw strikes and limit his pitch count for an extended outing as the Rays are a very good ball club who play the game right. He will be opposed by Wacha formerly of the Cardinals. The Braves have faced him a number of times and have had some success against him. The second half Braves minus Acuna will try to play above their heads for the rest of the season as they attempt to overcome a lackluster first half of the season and turn this thing around.
