No point in firing him with just two games left. Just let him finish the season then show him the door.
Less time in off season to recruit than before, a new coach is needed, sooner the better.
If they fired him tonight, they would have an interim coach for the last two games. I’m sure the guy they want is still actively coaching a team, so they won’t get the replacement until after the season anyway.

Actually sort of felt sorry for the guy last night. Until I remembered that when he checks out he gets a 9 million dollar tip for his effort. Not sure why UT has waited to execute the inevitable. But it doesn't matter. The players know he is gone and aren't paying attention. You know the assistants are spending the majority of their time during the week calling folks trying to find jobs for next year. And little reason for Butch to put much effort in at this point. Gues UT figures the season is lost anyway. May as well let him coach it out so they have a babysitter, or at least someone to blame if any off field issues arise. Am sure there are a lot of back channel discussions going on with prospective hires.
