Can't believe no Marshall posts!

I would like to think Tanner would have the sense to reach out to Gregg if the time ever comes that he has to find a new coach.

But to avoid the flame-fest that this post invites, we aren't near that point and won't be for at least 2 years. I'm still behind Martin. I really don't care who is running the show...I just want to see our team win and hopefully at least be a top team in the SEC.

If we had hired Marshall 7 years ago when we should have we'd be one of the best teams in the country (like Wichita St.). If we had hired him 3 years ago we'd still be in the NCAA tourney this year and not dreaming of it in 2-3 years.

I think the Marshall ship has sailed forever on a variety of levels, though he begged for either the USC or Clemson job, but didn't get a sniff from either. First reason he wouldn't come now is because unless Frank turns th is thing into a top 20 type program, he could do better. He has built up his stock at WS and doesn't have to any longer beg for a rebuilding job at a major program. Second, he may be happy at WS. He is being paid well, and has the program in a position where he is almost guaranteed 25 wins with the schedule he plays. Sometimes the grass isn't always greener.

The post was actually in regards to some being so upset at the BB team right now, but at least we are not going there. I guess it does invite the notion, but extremely impractical at this point in his tenure. Way too many years left on Martin's contract, too much money owed, and a fair assessment of his job would be better evaluated after given Dozier a year or two. It just seems that every time we have hit the SEC roadblock to our season, the Marshall talk erupts.

Marshall begged for the USC job? The only reports that came around about Marshall when Horn was fired was the USC reached out, but that they weren't paying enough - he makes about $2M/year at Wichita and I'm sure a minimal raise wasn't good enough incentive to take over what was a dumpster fire (I think Frank has put out the fire - still waiting to see if he can pull USC out of the dumpster).

Since the Shockers dropped football many years ago, he also doesn't have to "compete" against another school sport.
