** As we noted in the June Week 1 primer, Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork class of 2022 four-star wide receiver Antonio Williams will be on South Carolina's campus on June 4 and to be clear that will be an unofficial visit rather than a camp stop.

In fact, it doesn't appear that Williams will be doing any camp stops at least in the near future. According to TigerIllustrated, Williams has a nagging hamstring injury that will keep him from working out when he visits Clemson on Sunday. As we'd previously reported, Williams was planning to work out at both Clemson and Alabama this month in hopes of landing an offer.

Both schools have been in touch and in my opinion Williams is certainly a good enough player to land an offer from either of those schools, even as well as each has recruited that position in recent years. For now, Williams will stick with unofficial visits with stops at Georgia and Auburn set for next week and for then for Ole Miss the week after. Among the schools that have offered, we still believe Ole Miss is probably the one the Gamecocks most have to worry about. There are connections there and Kiffin and Co. will do a good job selling him on playing in that offense.

But back to the Gamecocks offer, this will be a key step for South Carolina - as much as Justin Stepp and Erik Kimrey and the whole staff have put into recruiting Williams - there's only so much that can be done over Zoom and this will be his first opportunity to start to build those relationships in person and for Williams to see the program's facilities. By being there on a camp day, it also should give Williams the chance to watch exactly how Stepp coaches up his guys. There's still a ways to go in Williams' recruitment - right now he's probably going to commit in the fall - but make no mistake this month could set the stage for his entire recruitment.

** The first day of the in-person recruiting has come and gone and the Gamecocks kicked off the end of the dead period with a couple of visitors on campus, as expected, and then the surprise visit of Hevin Brown-Shuler that Chris detailed here.

Fort Mill (S.C.) Nation Ford class of 2023 quarterback Carson Black took his first ever trip to South Carolina and had the opportunity to meet with Shane Beamer, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Marcus Satterfield and staff.

While we haven't gotten the chance to catch up with the offered quarterback for an article yet, we're told that he had a blast on the visit and will be back in Columbia with his team to throw at the 7-on-7 camp on June 25.

Black also plans visits with Louisville on June 4, Cincinnati on June 5, and Wake Forest on June 12.

** One of the more interesting changes to the rules for this recruiting calendar is the newly implemented allowance for college staff's to put a prospect through a private workout during his unofficial or official visit to campus. In the past, that was prohibited.

That's especially pertinent for prospects like Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe three-star cornerback Quan Peterson, who is receiving interest from Carolina but doesn't yet have an offer and was on campus for a non-camp day on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-11, 172-pound Peterson took advantage of the new clause, working out for defensive backs coach Torrian Gray on Tuesday. While he didn't land an offer, the Gamecocks will remain in touch and he's the first prospect the Gamecocks have taken advantage of that new rule with.

Peterson has early Power 5 offers from Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

** Another intriguing in-state prospect is Ridgeland (S.C.) Bluffton class of 2022 three-star defensive tackle D.J. Aiken who has early offers from Auburn, FSU, Georgia and Tennessee with interest from the Gamecocks.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive tackle prospect is planning to be at South Carolina for the OL/DL camp on June 24.

** In case you missed it in the June Week 1 Primer, Shane Beamer Camp: Day 1 is scheduled for Thursday from 9:30 to 2:00 and Gamecock Central will have live updates throughout each day during the camps. Below is a list of expected visitors for the workout, though it's worth noting, as always that prospects will be added and subtracted.
