please explain.
Well, since there's more high level college football in the state, it would be a good reason for high school football to improve in SC.
please explain.
Is one of our Trustees one of the contributors funding things?
I understood that participation was waning because of injury issues. I know there has been a few years where HH High has had some trouble getting enough players to field a team.Well, since there's more high level college football in the state, it would be a good reason for high school football to improve in SC.
Yeah, he was obviously the one I was thinking of.I couldn't say for sure either way, but Edgerton Burroughs is from Horry County, which is the home of Burroughs-Chapin which was formed by the merger of Burrough & Collins and Myrtle Beach Farms. Have always been the top real estate business in Conway & Myrtle Beach areas for over a century, and were the primary architects for the development of Myrtle Beach from a quiet, quaint beach cottage and "Mom and Pop" motel resort to what it now is today.
They purchased steamboats that rode the Waccamaw River and got people to the beach, built the railroad that ultimately opened access of Myrtle Beach for tourists, built the original MB Pavillion amusement park that expanded MB to regional marketing, And built the MB Convention Center and Myrtle Square Mall, the first mega-shopping complex for the Grand Strand.
I remember when I was a kid, during Christmas our local tiny shopping mall in Conway - Coastal Mall - would be packed with cars in the parking lot and shoppers in the stores FROM MYRTLE BEACH, because it was the closest mall to the beach at one time. They had the Chapin Store, but it was limited to farming supplies with few name-brand options to choose from, and we had a Belks and a JC Penny's. But when Myrtle Square Mall opened up, I always went shopping there and loved it. I still miss that old mall - now all the other mega shopping malls in the Grand Strand are closing down or are gone.
Edgerton Burroughs is - or was - a long-time chair-member of Burroughs & Collins/Burroughs & Chapin, so I would be shocked if he hasn't helped his company provide funding to Coastal Carolina in the millions over the years.....
that’s not something that lends itself to another. the state itself doesn’t put a ton of money into youth sports. try to compare dixie youth baseball to little league. same with football. the state is building all of these massive cookie cutter dormitory complexes for adults to move into the low country, but no recreational areas planned. no football fields, no basketball courts, hell, not even a golf course. multiple failures to reach the children to get involved in sports in the state of south carolina has become apparent. stop letting parents coach, and let someone get paid to do it. coastal taking a step up has nothing to do with why the sc kids suck at football, compared to the california, florida, texas, georgia kids.Well, since there's more high level college football in the state, it would be a good reason for high school football to improve in SC.
Maybe. I've been saying for years that football as we know it will die in the near future.I understood that participation was waning because of injury issues. I know there has been a few years where HH High has had some trouble getting enough players to field a team.
Exactly. Just like Coastal taking a step up has nothing to do with us.that’s not something that lends itself to another. the state itself doesn’t put a ton of money into youth sports. try to compare dixie youth baseball to little league. same with football. the state is building all of these massive cookie cutter dormitory complexes for adults to move into the low country, but no recreational areas planned. no football fields, no basketball courts, hell, not even a golf course. multiple failures to reach the children to get involved in sports in the state of south carolina has become apparent. stop letting parents coach, and let someone get paid to do it. coastal taking a step up has nothing to do with why the sc kids suck at football, compared to the california, florida, texas, georgia kids.
When will Carolina take things seriously and build a shiny new indoor FB facility?!? Oh.. Wait..
Well if we really took thing serious, we would have fired our coach last year- buyout/pandemic/revenue losses be damned!!
Oh… Yeahhh… 😂
Seriously though- good for Coastal! They had a great season and last time I visited their stadium… Let’s just say their facilities were in need of some upgrades!
