Oh my. I gotta say I would have been very sad had he decided to transfer but I'm extremely happy he decided to stay. But damn that was a hell of an offer. Not sure which school it was though.

I believe he was tampered with, but can't believe the price. 8 million seems really way too high.

It is ridiculous to me that these conversations even happen but I am nearly 58 years old and don't understand how the hell we got here. What I do understand is I give a shat way less than I used to. And I hardly ever watch the games anymore...

I was wrong guys so I wanted to correct what I said. Clemson offered the money. Sellers dad confirmed it. Sorry about that. I had heard Georgia talked with Sellers and pushed hard so I assumed it was them.

I would believe UGA long before I'd believe Clemson.

Elsewhere, it was reported the 8 million offer was for two years, which brings it back down to the realm of being reasonable.

Considering we are reportedly paying him 3.7 million a year, it's in the realm.

I am sure the factor of Beamer giving his Brother a scholly, is a reason he would stay in Columbia

I thought I deleted that post above. It was Georgia. A CU fan I know sent me an article from some insider site he's a member of that named Clemson as the school that offered $8m but a UGA guy I know debunked it with more credible info after I posted the above. Sorry for the misinfo. Hard to know what to believe.

I just talked to a relative who is a sports reporter for a major paper and he told me without a doubt it was the Dawgs. Should have consulted him before I posted the CU rumor. Sorry guys. I try to be accurate when I post but got snookered this time.

Still don't know what to believe, even the amount of the offer! If it was someone saying, "we could offer as much as $8 million" it doesn't mean there was an offer of $8 million.

Agreed. Because if I get life changing offer as a sophomore Im gone. Gotta strike while the irons hot. Never know what tomorrow holds. So I don’t believe he had a 8mm offer in hand.

It would have to be 8 million for two years.

I simply can't see someone paying sellers as the highest paid qb in the country. His season wasn't THAT good.

But 4 million a year? That's just about what he's making here (according to some reports), so that is perfectly reasonable.

It was likely $8 million per year.

UGA is a big spender.

Estimates have Arch Manning making around $7 million per year.

Sellers is a more dynamic player and would make a big PR splash in Athens as the Heisman frontrunner.

This is what happens when you have an unregulated market.

That's what I've heard/read. But of course, nothing is corroborated, it's internet talk.

But it seems completely believable. He's making 3.7 million a year here, 4 million is a decent raise. 8 million a year would put him way beyond the top college qb by over a million.

I dont think he commands that type of money without a HUGE year this year.

$4 million is what many pedestrian QBs are reportedly receiving.

Can you please provide the source where you heard/read this like the OP did?

Sellers behind the supersized UGA line with all of their 5-star skill players would be must see TV the entire season and playoffs.

The $8 million a year investment would likely provide a 10x+ in school sponsorships.

IIt is a little surprising UGA would make that offer unless Sellers' agent put out feelers.

That's breaking SEC-etiquette in a big way

I'd be suprised if it was UGA too. I read the article and I think it did say $8 million for two years. But you're right. If a team as loaded UGA had a QB with Sellers skillset, the sky is the limit.
