Is it just me or do some schools' basketball teams play like their football counterparts? For instance, Oregon has a really flashy offense, with lots of threes and dunks, and West Virginia has a fast-paced, high-scoring offense but says "F*** it, just foul them" on defense. Meanwhile, UF's basketball team relied exclusively on its defense this year, just like their football team.
Does anyone think this is coincidence, or could it be that the culture at some schools demands that kind of play? Or is it that some ADs hire coaches with that kind of mentality because that is what they themselves believe in? Or is it something else entirely?
