Well, our Poor

Below is the latest installment of "But Gomer Said"

This book is getting so large that we might not be able to produce hard copies.

Publishers are also contemplating a multi-volume issuance of hard backs.

Word on the streets is that Dave might be getting into the Prediction/Futures markets once the book is released.

I do understand that those numbers are revised often, both up and down. The 800k revision was quite a bit larger than normal, by a large factor.

Maybe it comes to nothing, but there is speculation (fwiw) that the numbers will be found to be "cooked" a little.
Anything is possible. I often have learned that the markets (stock and bond sniff that out long in advance). The stock market kept going up. If there is such a thing as reincarnation (and I hope there is not), James Carville hopes to come back as the bond market.

No, because I am already reaping the tax savings from his first administration, which are due to expire unless Congress votes this year to keep them. I can’t wait until Tuberville’s bill to eliminate tax on Social Security benefits becomes law. I pity the Democrats who vote “NO” to eliminating tax on SS benefits. Their political future will be over if they do.

My rate only changed from 33% to 32% and I itemize. So, it was nice but not really anything to write home about for my family.

It will be interesting to see if cutting SS taxes passes. There are numerous bills that have been proposed. The problem is off-setting the revenue loss with not increasing the deficit.

I don't think Tuberville's will be the one that passes.

One of the Democrat proposals includes increasing the wage limit to over $250,000, which means that high earners (and I would be in this group) would pay the 6.2% payroll tax on nearly $100,000 more of our wages than we currently do. (Current wage base is $168,600)

I actually think this makes sense- no reason the limit should be that low.

It seems unlikely to pass as currently proposed though because it's a Democrat bill.

It’s a strange “gotcha” about the SS taxes. Republicans were the ones who implemented taxing SS.

Democrats would gladly support eliminating that tax and offsetting it to higher income earners. Republicans obviously won’t want to do that. So the only solution would be to just increase the national debt.

Trump ran up our debt greatly. And I'm quoting Rupert Murdoch's outfit regarding the labor market.

Mick Mulvaney, Trump's acting chief of staff still talks about how poorly the 1st administration did regarding the debt when asked about it. Of course, he famously said no one really cared about it at the time but him.

Of course, it's just liberals calling people Nazis.

It's not actual Nazis doing Nazi things.

In fairness, JD Vance calls the 25 year old man " a kid"

many of his posts were made - - - last year.

Those 25 year old kids..........

It's funny watching people that hate to use the term "kid" for a college athlete (because they are indeed adults) calling a 25 year old " a kid"

who has posted that he wants to wipe Israel off the map

This is so true.

They are going to need at least 8 years to recover, if not more.

They also need a complete policy overhead and alot of new talent.

There's no way any Democrat in DC with their face plastered on this disaster is going to advance their career at this point.

The best they can hope for is to hold serve in their positions and even that's dicey.

They better be locked away forever. Nobody’s ABOVE THE LAW. Remember that chant. Well we about to find out

I am ok with eliminating the SS tax- and doing just that.

Democrats have long supported raising the taxes on the highest earners (most bills target $400,000) to eliminate SS taxes for those making under that amount.

i'd like all of the taxes eliminated but it needs to be paid for somehow.

Yeah the Democrats are losing the messaging by using logic.

They need to just propose a bill eliminating taxes on social security benefits and replacing it with a tax on people making more than $1 million. Then force the republicans to vote it down.

When you hire people with little experience, do no background check on them, and then give them access to personal, private, and sensitive information, you are going to run into major problems.

It's so unnecessary and it's so easy to conduct proper checks on people before giving them such access.

There isn't one persoin on this thread that would hire someone and give them access to personal info without doing a decent background checkc on them.

But in this case, because of political reasons, they don't care if they have fundamental checks on them or not.

DOGE person going through sensitive files had been fired by cybersecurity firm for leaking proprietary information to a competitor in the past.

I avoid it most of the time but took a look at X today and saw tons of posts saying that Elon is going to expose weather modication and the government creating hurricanes and tornados.

I guess this means Elon will also show that the Trump administration created hurricanes and tornados in 2017-2020.

and people claiming airplanes flying across the sky are releasing chemicals to cause autism.

and of course looking at the profiles of some of those making these posts reveals about what you'd expect.

It’s honestly wild how people like @Lurker123 have stuck their head in the sand to ignore the red flags and align with the mentally unstable like @Ward Jr

You might want to recheck the Biden Administration, Gomer.

Most all of them were unfit to serve and look at the carnage they've left behind.

They were children with bad intentions.

Now we have some of the smartest people in the world working on the issue.

However, it's difficult for you to separate who is smart and who is not.

This hasn't served you very well.

That's just one part of the Gomer in you.

Lurker doesn't care. Both sides use that to justify things.

Being unqualified for a position is subjective. Everyone can honestly disagree on who is qualified for a role. Not conducting basic background checks and security clearances is willfully disregarding fundamental tools to safeguard everyone including the person asking someone to do a job.

reduced car tariffs — a decision taken by the European Commission as the bloc’s representative on trade policy — would also apply to China and other countries under WTO rules.

Brussels could suspend intellectual property rights for American tech companies, for example allowing free use of software, and apply duties to streaming services and other digital platforms.

European governments had noted how the fast retaliation threat by Canada and Mexico to the 25 per cent tariffs levied on them had prompted Trump to suspend the tariffs for 30 days.

Chinese automakers are rapidly gaining traction in Europe, with younger buyers showing increasing interest, challenging established brands
