The first of two tough games this week, South Carolina plays at Tennessee Saturday, Last time South Carolina won against Alabama was 2016. Since 2017 South Carolina biggest losing streak against a conference team is Alabama.

Is Brandon Miller going to play? He was allegedly involved with the murder that happened on Alabama's campus last month. Pretty bad look for Bama to not have him suspended.

Interesting. I thought we were going to get toasted in this one but now I’m not so sure. Brandon Miller situation seems to be gaining steam. I wonder how long they can continue to put him out there.

He shouldn’t. But he will for now. I’ve got to believe at some point he’s going to be removed from people above Coach Oats.

I do not want the media to try and dictate weather someone should play or not. If Alabama is convinced that he did nothing wrong then play him. I do have a few questions about this.

First, what is University of Alabama policy with weapons on campus grounds or athletic facilities (including the parking lot)?

Second, even though it is not my business, why is Miller holding or storing a gun for a teammate?

Yeah for the first question I think most Southerners are pro gun but I would think on a college campus regardless of location the laws would be strict given the number of school shootings.

Now as for the second question I have no clue about gun culture to know why someone is holding a gun for someone else. I don’t know how someone would give a loaded gun to someone else without asking some serious questions.

It also appears that Miller is alleged to have moved his car in such a way to block the victim which may have prevented her escape. If all of these things are true, I don’t know how Brandon Miller is even on the roster much less playing in games.

I did not know that Miller was even involved with the incident. That does raise red flags. I guess that is why Oats said wrong place at the wrong time comment yesterday. Before I read your post I did not understand Oats comments about wrong place at the wrong time statement. I thought this was about Miller had at one time possession of the weapon.

I think it would be best to sit Miller.

I have the impression that Louisiana State does not give a damn about what the rest of the nation thinks. LSU is going to do things their way. Look at the sexual harassments or perhaps assaults that went on without no one being expelled or losing their job. Cheater wade was caught on tape buying players and LSU carried him for a long time and was eventually fired perhaps due to not having a great season.

One of their football players was arrested yesterday of illegal weapons charge and now the state of Louisiana has just dropped the charges.

From all I've read, this is a bad situation, made worse by un-savvy messaging from the coach. However, I don't think Miller did anything illegal. So what does a school do? The odd thing is that giving the gun to a teammate off campus probably didn't violate any school rules either - because who could come up with this scenario to make a rule about it in the first place?!?

So, not illegal and doesn't break any school rules. Horrible judgment? Definitely.

I'm actually at a loss because I can't think of a definitive answer of what I think should happen. I can see both sides very clearly, but nothing makes one more correct than the other.

Nothing to see here. My friend asked me to bring him a loaded gun so I did. I didn’t ask why i just did it cause he’s my buddy. I can’t help my buddy shot someone minutes later.

Sincerely,
B Miller

Alabama released a statement about an hour ago. Miller is playing and basically they’re doubling down on him playing for now.

But if you’re issuing statements on top of statements, it’s likely he will be sitting at some point just not tonight.

Once they get to 25 or so wins he will sit

A few things come to mind after reading about this incident.

1) Oats is an example of athletic coaches not necessarily having a clue how to answer questions outside of athletic subjects. He's an absolute idiot.

2) The facts of the case where these 2 guys targeted this young woman and her boyfriend are awful. She simply said she wasn't interested and they targeted her to kill her. They clearly are human garbage.

3) Hopefully- and this is Alabama and this involves a former athlete so they could end up getting award from the governor, but the shooter should get life in prison. That's a no brainer. The other kid should be facing 10-20 years easy. But again, since this involves a former athlete, they may get a big break.

4) Miller is a fool. Gun owners (and I am one) would do a lot to help themselves by making remotely decent decisions. Hint: Giving your gun to someone else for anything is almost always a terrible idea unless it's a hunting situation and you have a long history of letting them use your gun for some reason.

Over the weekend, a 17 year old honor roll high school kid in Michigan left his girlfriend's birthday party to drive home. It was freezing cold. He saw 2 young teens on the side of the road (a 13 and 14 year old) and offered them a ride because it was so cold.

They shot him to death and took his car.

I am sure their mommas will be telling us how great they are and how they are little angels.

I saw no word on where they got the gun that they used to kill the 17 year old.

Don't ever stop to help someone on the side of the road- a message I repeated to my family last night. No, not even cousins or "your best friend." Jails are full of cousins and "best friends" who shot and killed a family member or friend.

I am guessing Miller has a lawyer because there may be a lawsuit coming from the Jamea Jonae Harris family.

Yes- civil liability is easier to prove. Miller will almost certainly be facing a lawsuit. Heck, the athletic program might as well.

Have to wonder if they are treating Miller differently here. I still can't find in any of the reports if he was on campus when he was texted to bring the gun. The gun was loaded.

It's illegal in Alabama to have a loaded gun on campus in a vehicle.

Drivers are charged and arrested all the time for things in their vehicle that they "didn't know about."

At a minimum, Miller was an idiot- and that's at a minimum. Something tells me the police in Alabama aren't going to be looking at that very closely.

You'd think their athletic policy would call for punishment for an athlete doing such a thing - knowingly or unknowingly.

Someone calls you from a bar district and tells you to drive their gun to them and you don't ask why- or simply refuse and tell them to come get it if they want it - I just can't imagine doing something like that.

I once purchased a pistol from one of my best friends for my dad's Christmas gift. He made me give him a copy of my driver's license and sign a form he typed up that said I had no legal prohibition in South Carolina from legally purchasing a firearm - and that it was to be used for recreation purposes. (He knew I didn't as I had just renewed my CWP).

I was glad to sign it. He gave me a copy of it a few days later. My friend had a habit of selling some of his guns to people he knew and he said he wouldn't sell unless I signed it. He had a buddy that balked at signing it once and he didn't sell him the gun. He keeps the records at his home "forever" as he told me.

I would think that the freshmen, walk-on and portal transfer players would have to go through a seminar or an orientation of what the university and athletic policies are. They should discussed the importance of representing the university and stress tainting the university would at least bring some consequences.

I do not believe that Miles turned into a villain overnight and Miller likely understood hanging around Miles could potentially be dangerous. I think the university should no less than suspend Miller for athletic policy.

South Carolina dismissed (guessing) four players after the after the 2016 basketball season. Thornwell was suspended for brief moment during the 2016-17 season. Rakym Felder was removed from the University of South Carolina during 2017-18 season. I am confident in saying that if Miller played for South Carolina he would have definitely be suspended for athletic policy.

I would now like to see if it is possible for University of South Carolina to revoke Alex Murdaugh diploma for admitting to stealing from clients and especially the amputee. That is just really heartless and low.

I hated that Felder made several poor decisions while at USC, but it is pretty solid evidence we would not have let a player suit up in a similar circumstance.
