Clemson recruiting efforts are top to bottom. It’s a complete institutional effort. At CU it starts not with the coaching staff, it starts with the Board and the Admin.
Recruits and their families at CU are being given the full effort. They’re being sold the whole story. They’re being shown institution wide commitment. They’ve bought in at the Board and Admin level, they’re actively part of the effort.
At USC we are not there. We believe that we can hire our way to dominance. Holtz and Spurrier. CU hired a damn insurance salesman and they all got on the team with helping him recruit.
Do we really think we are close to selling the level of involvement those guys are pitching? When a recruit arrives at CU their Momma meets the President. He gives her his mobile number and tells her I’m going make sure your boy stays safe, calls her everyday and gets a job when he graduates and another one after that. Board members are involved. It might be a line of crap or maybe the commitment is real but, either way it is selling.
We want to bitch about Roper. They’re selling, if you commit here, we’re making a lifelong commitment to you.
It’s working. Y’all can whine all day about “play calling” but CU is getting better ball players. We need to get more complete in our effort. We need to offer a better package.
IMO, nothing is more important to the long term success of the University than success in the football program. Large state universities are in competition for students. The statistics are startling. The exposure and image by success football exponentially increases interest and applications. More applications equals more talented applicants. Better students. Better students, better and more successful alumni. Football is far more important and far more impactful than Innovista.
CU is ALL IN on football. They recruit from top to bottom. We’re unwilling to accept there is little more important than recruiting, than football. We’d rather fool ourselves into thinking MIBs is more important, more worthy of direct involvement at the top levels.
CU is selling a better package. A more complete package. A lifelong package. That package is developed and fostered throughout the university.
We can do this. We just need to accept that winning at the highest level requires full commitment on every level. We have to be All In. (And yes, I did just throw up in my mouth)
