I agree...on the other hand they proved last year that they didn't have a clue what they were writing about.Originally posted by superflyby:
On the outside looking in...it seems like a fair assessment. I would hope we can surprise everyone this year but it will be just that....a surprise.
I have a hunch that he's going to shock a lot of 'experts' this year. Things are too quiet, too pessimistic around the program right now, but SOS is exhibiting that hated smirk that used to spell doom for his opponents. We'll see.Originally posted by world famous 3rd base hecklers:
Never count Spurrier out on anything....
Spot on post. Right on target. The 3 great years we had were mostly due to defense and Connor Shaw keeping drives alive. Last year the defense was bad and the offense faltered or SOS made inexplicable calls at the worst possible times. I hope we have a resurgence but I wouldn't bet my house on it.Originally posted by Carolina Bo:
Even when he had some of the best defenses in the nation, Spurrier couldn't get it done on the offensive side of the ball. Average to below average offenses every year. His scheme is no longer innovative, and defensive coordinators have it figured out. Now that he can't rely on a defense to carry him to 10+ wins, his offense has been exposed. He can still make a great call or two a game, but he will now also make as many or more terrible calls per game, including a few head scratchers that have everyone going WTF.
Unfortunately, that was Kevin Sumlin's view last year as well...... I'm not willing to draw that conclusion again this year.Originally posted by 67gamecock:
