Dowell Loggains

I’ll go on the record and say this is a Great Hire. Spend a few minutes looking at what some of his players have said about him. Sounds like he can recruit fairly well - in his short time at Arkansas - he did pretty well.
Players are willing to follow him. Great experience in the NFL at several different teams All are positive.

Connor Shaw played for him. I’m guessing Connor had a some good things to say about him.

I will support him.

Let’s Go——-

The first thing that jumped out at me was the "great" experience in the NFL. He was called the worst play caller in the NFL, and OC'd 5 seasons of bottom dwelling offenses. I would argue extensive nfl experience over that experience being anywhere near good.

And I have just grown numb to players vouching for bad coaches. Players did that for muschamp even.

For me, this hire just dampens any growing enthusiasm that the last 2 games built. I'll sit back with resigned hope.

News reporters don't go out looking for players to say negative things about someone like a new assistant football coach. So you are going to hear only positives most of the time.

I'm old enough to remember The State paper headline announcing Brad Scott's hire - saying that South Carolina "Finally gets it right" talking about hiring Scott. Well, we didn't.

Every coach in the country has players that like them. Doesn't mean they are any good- or that coaches that aren't well liked are necessarily bad.

The resume for Loggains is awful. There is no spinning that. His track record of on the field success is not one any coach would want. There is not one offensive coordinator at a Power 5 school- or even an assistant that wants to be an offensive coordinator one day- that would want Loggains resume in terms of his lack of offensive production and lack of success with the offensives he directed.

But, he's Shane Beamer's choice and that's the way it is. There is nothing anyone can do about it outside of him.

and I fully expect that after his initial press conference, Beamer will describe him as one of the great offensive minds in the United States, and we will get to hear about how he was 1 play away from an NFL head coaching job 4 different times.

I am going to be a skeptic considering that there is no body of work to evaluate. Apparently even in the NFL Adam Gase was calling all the plays and Loggains was just on the staff with a title. Don't believe me, read the numerous sports columns out there. Also, let us not use positive comments from players anymore. No player is going to look at this hire or any other, especially if they know the guy, and say well he is really a nice guy, but a horrible coach.
